    Johanna J Haar, nee Thien, 86, of Albers, IL, died Wednesday February 8, 2012, at Aviston Countryside Manor, Aviston, IL.

    She was born April 16, 1925 in Bartelso to August and Catherine (Jansen) Thien and later adopted by Henry and Cecelia (Jansen) Becker; they all preceded her in death

    She married William H “Bill” Haar on June 18, 1947 at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, IL; he preceded her in death on May 7, 1994.

    She was also preceded by sons, Jerome L. Haar and Michael E. Haar; brothers Ferd Thien, Robert Thien, Edmond “Butch” Thien, Albert “Tossie” Becker, William “Bill” Becker; sisters Helen Thien-Marxer, Clara Athmer, Laura Thien, and Mary Ann Rakers; brothers-in-law, Joe Marxer, Joe Athmer, August Renschen, Elmer Renschen, Chris Eversgerd and Francis Gallitan; sisters-in-law Sylvia Becker, Mary Ann Becker and Eleanor Renschen.

    Surviving are her loving children, William A. Haar of Mt. Vernon, Steve (Cheryl) Haar of Aviston, Madonna Wulf of Colorado Springs, CO and Richard (Diana) Haar of Belleville; a daughter-in-law, Carrol Haar of Trenton; brothers and sisters Ray Becker of Bartelso, Florence (Paul) Dierkes of Germantown, Lucille (Frank) Kampwerth of Carlyle, Herman Becker of Bartelso, Don “Diesel” Becker of Bartelso, Barb (Bob) Robke of Germantown, Richard (Pat) Becker of Bartelso and Toni (George) Litzenburg of Carlyle; brother-in-law Andy Rakers of Beckemeyer and Cornelius Renschen of Breese; sister-in-laws, Mary Becker, Mildred Renschen of Germantown and Irma Eversgerd-Gallitan of Germantown, as well 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    Johanna retired as a seamstress from the Martha Manning garment factory in Collinsville. She was a member of St, Bernard Church and Altar Sodality in Albers, IL, an auxiliary member of St. Josephs Hospital Breese and Albers American Legion Auxiliary Post 1026. She was also a volunteer for Southern Illinois Hospice.

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Fr. Jack Joyce officiating. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Albers, IL.

    Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 8:00-9:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

    Memorials can be made to the St. Joseph Auxiliary Lights for Scholarship or to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
