Josemaria Martin Onate-Angel, age 19 months, of Breese, gained his Angel wings Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 3, 2020 in Breese, a son of Gabriel and Alejandra, nee Angel, Onate of Breese.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Gabriel, Andrea, Ivette, and Mateo Onate-Angel, all of Breese; paternal grandparents, Rafael Ońate-Leon and Maria Guadalupe Ayala of Pinckneyville; maternal grandparents, Gustavo Angel and Maria Dolores Villaseñor of Mexico; godparents, Rafael Onate-Ayala and Maria Celia Onate; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Josemaria was preceded in death by three siblings and an uncle, Arturo Onate-Ayala.
Josemaria was a member of both St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville and St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and was baptized June 21, 2021 at St. Damian Catholic Church. He also received the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at St. Damian Catholic Church. He enjoyed listening to music and books being read to him, watching videos, was always smiling, and loved eating and being around his loving family.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Steven Beatty and Fr. James Allen concelebrating. Interment will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville.
Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese and again Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville.
Memorials in honor of Josemaria may be made to St. Damian Catholic Church, Onate-Angel Education Fund, or SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
