Juliana A. “Julie” Timmermann, age 91, of Trenton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born on June 19, 1934, in Breese, IL, Julie was the daughter of the late William and Rose (née Reilmann) Spihlmann. She married the love of her life, Paul B. Timmermann, on April 19, 1955, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before Paul’s passing on September 24, 2009. They were blessed with six children and built a life full of love, family, and faith.
Julie is survived by her loving children: Harold Timmermann of Trenton, IL; Sandra (Joe) Todoroff of Swansea, IL; James “JT” Timmermann of Trenton, IL; Ann (Alberto) Ortiz of Goleta, CA; and Carol Zellner of Collinsville, IL. She was a proud grandmother to Jason Langhauser, Melissa (Ben) Caldwell, Amanda (James) Elliott, Timothy (Amy) Timmermann, Jamie (Matt) Putnam, Jenna (Jeff) Mattaline, Joshua (Autumn) Ortiz, Tasia (Pierce) Gasser, and Taina Ortiz; and cherished her great-grandchildren: Greyson and Kira Caldwell, Brayden and Ryan Elliott, Raylynn and Joanna Timmermann, Madison Putnam, Kamden and Quinn Ortiz, and Ashlyn and Matthew Sanchez. She also held dear her step-great-grandchildren, Ty and Teagan Mattaline.
Julie is also survived by her brother-in-law David “Jeff” (MaryJane) Timmermann of Germantown, IL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lori Glover of Napa, CA; Edna (Mike) Banco of Billings, MT; and Marilyn Timmermann of Avondale, AZ; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Anita Langhauser; son-in-law, Paul Zellner; her siblings and their spouses: Edna (Henry) Netemeyer, Robert (Rosemary) Spihlmann, and Ralph (Elizabeth) Spihlmann; her parents-in-law George and Catherine (née Wellen) Timmermann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Erbin (Marie) Timmermann, George H. Timmermann, Marie (Paul) Povolish, Elmer Singler, Esther (Ray) Brady, Wally Schroeder, Walter (Lucy) Timmermann, Kay Timmermann, Ray Timmermann, Katie Siegmann, George Glover, and other relatives and friends.
Julie was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality in Trenton. She was also a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary Unit 7983-Trenton and a member of the VFW Auxiliary Unit 7682-Mascoutah. Julie proudly served as Past President of both the Trenton VFW Auxiliary Post 7983 and the 14th District VFW Auxiliary, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to supporting veterans and their families.
Julie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a deep love for her family and found joy in quilting, crocheting, needlework, bingo, gardening, and canning. Her warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.
The Timmermann family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Trenton Village and Barnes-Jewish Hospital for their care and support during Julie’s final days.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton. Private interment will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
