Kathleen J. “Kathie” Heimann (nee Wobbe), age 81, of Germantown, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Kathie was born on June 16, 1943, in Breese, the daughter of the late Joseph and Fern (nee Schmeder) Wobbe. She married James E. Heimann on October 19, 1963, in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2024.

Kathie is survived by her children Chris Winter (Jeff Haas) and Tim Winter, Becky and Dave Kuhl, Jim and Shelly Heimann, and Andy Heimann; grandchildren Tricia and Christopher Kohrmann, Dan and Ashley Winter, Gina Winter, Mindy and Shannon Cooney, Jamie Lohr and Kris Riedy, Sophie Kuhl (fiancé Reagan Hesse) and Calvin Heimann (Emily Meier); 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Wobbe, Ruth Lager, Sylvia Henken, Joanne and James (Stix) Lampe, Esther and Pat Norrenberns, Anita Rakers, and Joe and Annette Heimann.

Kathie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe and Loretta Heimann; grandson Tim Winter; sister Marita (Gene) Hilmes; brother Jerry Wobbe; and brothers-in-law Paul Lager, Art Henken, and Marvin Rakers.

Kathie had a remarkable 40-year career in nursing, nurse education, and community health and wellness. She was known for her dedication, passion for people, kind heart, and a strong desire to learn and grow. As a registered nurse, she worked in patient care early in her career. After earning a bachelors and multiple masters degrees in nursing, her career at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese progressed to other roles, in which she developed, delivered, and coordinated countless health education programs for hospital staff, patients, students, and the community. Kathie was proud to be one of the founders of the hospital’s health fair program. She also served on advisory boards for HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital, Clinton County Health Department, Community Link, and Clinton County Senior Services, among others.

Kathie reluctantly retired in 2009 and was grateful for the many friendships and learning opportunities throughout her career. She leaves a strong legacy of health programs that have touched thousands of people and continue to benefit our community today. After retirement, Kathie worked as a substitute teacher in local elementary schools and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, including serving as president. She was inducted into the Mater Dei Hall of Honor in 2021.

Kathie was a selfless, energetic, joyful, and supportive mom, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed treating her grandchildren to trips, movies, overnight stays, and shopping. She never missed a sporting or school event, loved visits and card playing with friends, and was an avid collector of glassware and antiques. She was always ready for a travel adventure and would go anywhere, with anyone, anytime. Kathie’s genuinely caring and positive spirit will be deeply missed. She was a true role model and inspiration to many.

Box 117, Germantown, IL 62245, who is serving the family.
