Lawrence T. Haake, age 91 of Breese, born July 20, 1925 in Germantown, a son of the late Lawrence H. and Helen, nee Kniepmann, Haake, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Theresa, nee Geiben, Haake, whom he married May 17, 1947 in Norfolk, VA and she died March 29, 1995; his siblings, Patrick Haake, Charles Haake, Paul Haake, Mildred Gubany, Rose Fuhler, and Helen Heintz; and brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Paul Gubany, Ed Fuhler, Robert Jones, and Linda Haake.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Kathy) Haake of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Karen) Haake of Huntersville, NC, Robert (Janice) Haake of Sandwich, IL, Patrick (Lisa) Haake of Eagan, MN, and Karen (Scott) Monette of St. Louis, MO; 8 grandchildren, Dana Haake, Carla (Eric) Gutkowski, Laura (Adam) Schraw, Philip (Blair) Haake, Clark Haake, Morgann (Alex) Carlon, Matthew Monette, and Nicholas Monette; 6 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Garrett, and Audrey Schraw, Nolan and Casey Gutkowski, and Jace Haake; siblings, Ruth Jones of Florissant, MO, Frank (Marcie) Haake of Federal Way, WA, Raymond Haake, James (JoAnn) Haake, and Albert (Gina) Haake all of Germantown; a brother-in-law, Gerald Heintz of Venedy; a sister-in-law, Josie Haake; and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence received his B.S. Degree in Accounting from St. Louis University, was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving active duty as a pilot from 1943-1947 and from 1950-1953, and retired after 32 years as a Commercial Airline Pilot for TWA. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, Germantown American Legion Post 325, and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster presiding. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.
Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 8:00-9:00 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis ARC or to Team Activities for Special Kids and will be received at the funeral home.
The Germantown American Legion will hold services at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus service at 6:15 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
