- Full Obituary
Margaret A. "Mickey" Williamson, age 78, of Trenton, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon.
Mickey was born September 10, 1946, in Highland, a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Vera (nee Rieger) Midgley. Sadly, her father was killed in early December 1947 on an icy trip to buy Christmas gifts. A number of years later, Walter “Red” Kuhn married Mickey’s mother, Vera, and legally adopted both Jeanne and Mickey.
Mickey is survived by her loving husband, Mike Williamson, whom she married September 5, 1970, at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton; two sons, Cory Michal Williamson of New Baden and Joshua Tyler Williamson of New Baden; grandchildren, Mara Lynn, Kade Michal, Vera Marie, and Judah Tyler; siblings, Jeanna (Russ) Heuberger of Highland, Deb (Dan) Athmer of Aviston, and Tom (Gay) Kuhn of Trenton; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy Fahrner of Millstadt and Suzanne (Al) Grueninger of St. Louis, MO.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Walter “Red” Kuhn; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Dorothy (nee Rank) Williamson; and brother-in-law, Leonard Fahrner.
A lifelong educator, Mrs. Williamson devoted her career to teaching in the Highland and Wesclin Unit Schools until her retirement in 2005. In her later years, she continued serving the community as a pharmacy technician at Family Pharmacy in Trenton. She was a proud member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, Order of Eastern Star, and the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Mickey’s love for books, needlework, and travel was only surpassed by her devotion to family. She found joy in every family gathering—laughing, reminiscing, and looking forward to the next time everyone could be together. Her warmth and wisdom were the heart of those moments, and her legacy of love will endure through the many lives she touched.
A memorial service will be celebrated Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton with Rev. Christy Smith officiating. Private interment will take place at Trenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. John UCC in Trenton and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
