Mary Heimann, age 96, of Germantown, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Breese Nursing Home. She was born July 22, 1928, in Germantown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Nordhaus) Thoele.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Heimann, whom she married September 27, 1949, at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville and who died February 18, 2019; sons in infancy, Joseph and Herman Heimann; grandson in infancy, Joseph Niemeyer; brothers, Alvin (Mary Ann) Thoele, Walter (Ella Mae) Thoele, and Edward “Artie” (Jane) Thoele; sisters, Bernice (Cornelius) Kniepmann and Olivia Thoele in infancy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Rose (nee Richter) Heimann; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sr. Marciana Heimann, ASC, Antoinette (Virgil) Engelmann, and Herbert Heimann.
Mary is survived by her children, Pat (Gene) Wesselmann of Carlyle, Sharon (Allen) Pichon of Flower Mound, TX, Connie (Marvin) Eversgerd of Germantown, Carol (Mark) Niemeyer of Breese, Terry (Dana) Heimann of O’Fallon, and Mark (Rhuann) Heimann of Aviston; grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) Wesselmann, Michael (Becky) Wesselmann, Tim (Tiffany) Wesselmann, Sarah (Adam) Becker, Christine (John) Diehl, Allen (Misti) Pichon III, Lisa (Steve) Napovanice, Brad (Leslie) Eversgerd, Kevin (Meghan) Eversgerd, Jeffrey (Emily) Niemeyer, Christopher (Breanne) Niemeyer, Taylor (Graham) Sudduth, Blake (Ali) Heimann, Peyton Heimann, AJ Heimann, and Jack Heimann; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one -great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
A devoted homemaker, Mary found joy in caring for her family. She was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, a dedicated member of the Germantown American Legion Auxiliary Unit 325, and a past member and past president of the Albers American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1026. She was an accomplished quilter, crafting over 100 quilts, and lovingly sewed dresses for her daughters. Mary also found happiness in baking, playing cards—especially euchre and rummy—teaching her grandchildren to play checkers, and enjoying games of bingo. A passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan, she also loved dancing with Arnold and spending time with her family, attending school and sporting events for her grandchildren.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. Thomas Lugge presiding. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Mater Dei Catholic High School, or the wishes of the family and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, PO Box 117 Germantown, IL 62245, who is serving the family.
