    Mary Ann (Toeben) Poettker, formerly of Breese, died at her home in Tallahassee, FL, on October 17, 2024. She was born December 7, 1934, to Dorothy (nee Harder) and Benjamin Toeben and they preceded her in death. She married James Henry Poettker on January 21, 1956, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and he died December 22, 2005.

     

    Mary Ann is survived by her children, Yvonne Mikeworth of Tallahassee, FL, Deborah (Fletcher) Christian of Crawfordville, FL, James (Debbie) Poettker of Robinson, IL, Gerhard (Lysa) Poettker of Martinsville, IL, Patricia Poettker of Terre Haute, IN, and Kenneth (Julie) Poettker of Winslow, IN; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; six sisters, Ruth (Clarence) Price, Theresia (Ray) Herzing, Betsy (Myron) Mugele, Pat (Floyd) Sudholt, Jean (Ron) Gori, and Kathy (John) Lloyd; one brother, Ben (Joan) Toeben; one brother-in-law, James (Judy) Haag; and three sisters-in-law, Lillian (Charles) Strube, Martha (Joe) Kleffner, and Jane (Leroy) Kampwerth.

     

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jerry Poettker (Colt and Crystal Poettker); sister, Judy (James) Haag; son-in-law, Vaughn Mikeworth; fiancé-in-law, John Shotts; eight brothers-in-law, Ray Hertzing, Clarence Price, Floyd Sudholt, Ralph (Pauline) Poettker, Marcellus (Rita) Poettker, Robert Poettker, Linus (Barbara) Poettker, and Victor (Pauline) Gerling; eight sisters-in-law, Adel (Romanus) Reilmann, Ann (William) Stanley, Clara Mae (Ted) Thole, Barbara (Linus) Poettker, Lorena (Erwin) Rolves, Lucille (Elmer) Krebs, Rita (Marcellus) Poettker, Pauline Poettker-Gerling.

     

    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding. Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese, IL. A reception will follow the interment.

     

    Visitation will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308 and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
