    Mary E. Thoele, age 83, of Carlyle, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was born October 19, 1942, in Breese, a daughter of the late William and Catherine (nee Koopmann) Dumstorff.

     

    Mary married Glen Thoele on April 19, 1960, at St. Felicitas Catholic Church in Beaver Prairie and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley Foppe; great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose Albanil; siblings, Kathleen “Puddles” Meyer, William “Moose” (Missie) Dumstorff, and Edward “Badge” Dumstoff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, August and Lenora (nee McQuade) Thoele; and brother-in-law, Curt Thoele.

     

    Mary is survived by her children, Karen Wuebbels of Carlyle, Sharon (Jason Kohrs) Foppe of Germantown, Diana (Jeff) Burnett of Carlyle, Pegene (Leon) Rakers of Aviston, Tarrah Guardian of Breese, and Jeremy (Pam) Thoele of Germantown; twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol “Peck” Foppe of Breese, Jerry (friend, Willie Tebbe) Dumstorff of St. Jacob, Linda Jung of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Jim (Pat) Dumstorff of Breese, Lester (Cindy) Dumstorff of Carlyle, Kenny “Storff” (Connie) Dumstorff of Aviston, and Kevin “Huck” Dumstorff of Missouri; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim Meyer of Breese and Mary Dumstorff of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     

    Mary was employed at Rockwell International, later known as Cambridge Industries, in Centralia, where she worked in the molding department. She was a proud member of the local UAW. Mary enjoyed gardening and working outside, taking great pride in her yard and landscaping. She loved feeding the birds and watching the purple martins. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, macramé, and ceramics. A wonderful cook, Mary was especially known for her baking. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially all of her grandchildren, and enjoyed going to the clubhouse.

     

    Memorial Service will be Friday, January 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Pastor Jason McIntosh officiating. Interment will be Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer.

     

    Visitation will be Friday, January 2, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
