Mary H. Lemons

        Mary H. Lemons, age 93, of Trenton, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Trenton Village.  She was born April 26, 1930 in Cobden, IL, a daughter of the late Van and Cecile, nee Williams, Hartline.

         

        In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Lemons, whom she married September 17, 1954 in Anna, IL and who died September 11, 1966; siblings, LeRoy (Bette) Hartline, John Hartline, and Irene (Daniel) McGuire; and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Jim) Harvey.

         

        Mary is survived by her children, Deacon Steven (Marilyn) Lemons of Lenexa, KS, Kimberly (John) Brunner of Rogers, AR, Donna (Bruce) Dickmann of Edwardsville, and Jacqueline (Peter) Van Gorkom of Trenton; grandchildren, Emily (Nick) Fragale, Elizabeth (Michael) Zakutansky, John Brunner Jr., Ellen (Justin) Silveira, Bradley (Jennifer) Dickmann, Aubry Dickmann, Jack Van Gorkom, and Analeigh Van Gorkom; great-grandchildren, Salvatore, Luca, Vincenzo, and Teresa Fragale, Lincoln Zakutansky, and Beau Dickmann; and nieces and nephews.

         

        Mary dedicated many years of service as a Clerk in the Clinton County Assessment Office before her well-deserved retirement. A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Trenton. Mary was also involved in various community organizations, including the VFW Auxiliary, Trenton Tumbleweeds, United Methodist Women, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

         

        Faith played a central role in Mary's life, and her commitment to her church and community was unwavering. She found joy in gardening, sewing, and travel. Mary embraced an active lifestyle, participating in senior water exercises, but her greatest pleasure came from spending quality time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

         

        In accordance to her wishes, her body was gifted to St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO., for research.  There are no services scheduled at this time.

         

        Memorials in her honor may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Trenton and will be received by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
