  • Full Obituary
Matthew Allan Zeisset, 36, of Carlyle, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO. He was born September 18, 1989, in Breese, the son of Patricia “Patty” (Rakers) Zurliene and the late Kevin Zeisset.

Matt is survived by his loving family: his mother and stepfather, Patty and Duane Zurliene of Breese; his daughters, Laney, Isabelle, and Iris Zeisset; his girlfriend, Chelsey Jones of Carlyle; and his step-daughter, Payzli Gray. He is also survived by his sisters, Brooke (Zach) Scott and Jennifer (Tyler) Becker, both of Jamestown; his nieces and nephew, Elizabeth and Maddox Scott and Blair, Blake, and Brinley Becker; his step-mother, Julie Zeisset of Frisco, TX;  as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Zeisset; and grandparents, Betty (Trame) and Larry Shenkel, Carl and Joan (Williams) Rakers, and Charles and Ruth (Goldsmith) Zeisset.

Matt was a devoted dad to his three girls and step daughter, who were his greatest joy in life. Whether listening to Laney’s stories, laughing at Izzy’s discoveries, relaxing with Payzli, or holding Iris close, he poured himself into his role as a loving “girl dad.”

Matt was a lineman and proudly served as foreman for BBC Electrical in Joplin, MO. He was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 2 and took pride in the work they do.

Matt had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was walking his dog, Lambeau, hiking trails with his daughters, nieces, or nephew, or spending time in the woods hunting mushrooms, he was most at peace when surrounded by nature. He was always up for an adventure, especially if it meant spending time with the people he loved.

He had a soft spot for comedy shows and never missed a chance to laugh, especially with his friends and family. A die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, Matt wore his team colors with pride. Go Pack, Go!

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese, with Deacon Jay Fowler officiating. Private interment will take place at Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Patricia Zurliene) and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
