  • Full Obituary

Maurice B. Albers, age 93, of Germantown passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Breese.

He was born January 8, 1932, in Breese, the son of the late Vincent and Catherine, nee Winter, Albers. On October 2, 1956, he married Rita (nee Hustedde) Albers at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Breese, and they recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Maurice is survived by his children, Janice (Larry) Hellmann, Marlene (Mike) Fields, Dale (Geralyn) Albers, Wayne (Vicky) Albers, all of Germantown, and Michelle (Jimmy) Dixon of Orlando, Florida;  thirteen grandchildren, Nathan (Sara) Dierkes, Katie (Patrick) Loepker, Lacey (Aaron) Venhaus, Kristen (Nick) Fuehne, Austin (Alexis) Fields, Kamron (Allie) Dixon, Matthew (Jamie Alexander) Albers, Maggie (Rhys) Kroes, Brianne Hellmann, Vivian (Easton Underwood) Albers, Abigail (Marshall Moore) Hellmann, Kimora (Patrick) Ford and Patrick Albers; step-granddaughter Korie Dixon; thirteen great-grandchildren, Isabella, Rylee, Lacey and Brynlee Dierkes, Louis, Jack and Andy Venhaus, Brooks and Sawyer Fuehne, Dorothy and Alice Loepker, Kayden and Karter Dixon, step-granddaughter Kennedy Dixon, and two new babies due in 2026; sister Marie Gebke of Germantown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose (Francis) Rehkemper, Anthony “Butch” Hustedde and Carol Hustedde, all of Breese, and Dorothy (Gerald) Showalter of O’Fallon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Michael, Gary and Nathan Albers; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Laura Hustedde; siblings Gertrude (Lawrence) Becker, Adele Albers, Elizabeth (Clarence) Haake, Dolores (August) Lampe, Vincent (Ethel) Albers and Harold Albers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virgil Gebke, Mary Ann (Henry) Peek, Monica (Charles) Boeckmann, Francis Hustedde, Robert Hustedde, Herbert Hustedde and Joseph Hustedde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maurice grew up on the family farm, south of Germantown, and was involved in grain farming and raising livestock throughout his life.  It was on the farm that he acquired his love of music with his dad playing the fiddle and the family singing along.   Maurice never knew a stranger and was the most German “Irishman” you ever met as he loved the Irish ballads, such as “Danny Boy” and “McNamara’s Band.” His children and grandchildren will always remember his remarkable rendition of “The Storybook Ball,” and his favorite hymn “O, What Can My Jesus Do More.”

Along with his love of singing, Maurice enjoyed traveling with his wife, quail hunting, golfing, and was a serious Euchre player often stating, “Are we gonna play cards or are we just gonna talk?”

Maurice loved his country and was proud of his service as a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked as a carpenter and later spent 20 years as a supervisor of the mailing department at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. He spent many years as an insurance agent and advisor for Primerica Insurance.

He was a member of St Boniface Church and St. Boniface Choir for over 60 years. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2869 in Breese and a member of the Bishop Althoff 4th Degree Assembly and Germantown American Legion Post 325.
