Michael J. “Mike” Fix, age 68, of Breese, IL, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Mike was born on July 27, 1956, in Breese, the beloved son of Arthur Fix of Breese and the late Mary Ann (nee Wieter) Fix.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, June Fix, in infancy, and his parents-in-law, Jim Dick and Vera Ruth (nee Johnson) Jeffress.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn (nee Jeffress) Fix, of Breese, whom he married on May 27, 1996, in Breese. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Jarred Fix of Colorado Springs, CO, Justin (Konnor) Fix of Shiloh, Cailey Karbach of Beckemeyer, Laurie (significant other, Chris) Smith of Herrin, Holly Indence of Raleigh, NC, Amanda (significant other, Donnie) Tudor of Harrisburg, Sarah (significant other, Robert) Jansen of Raleigh, NC, and Toni Smith-Fix of Breese. Mike was a proud grandfather to Aejae Fix, Kaeson Fix, Tori Smith, Caleb Williams, Teah Indence, Elana Indence, Riley Pruitt, Sean Pruitt, Nyles Tudor, and Karlei Jansen, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Michael Inmann.

He is also survived by his siblings, Peggy Sue (Ron) Schrage of Highland, Robert “Bob” (Robin) Fix of Breese, Sharon Fix of Belleville, and Donna (Philip) Timmermann of Breese; his brother-in-law, Rockie Jeffress of Mesa, AZ, and sister-in-law, Wanda Fink of Baltimore, MD; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mike’s work as a real estate broker/agent with Equity Realty Group in Breese for nearly three decades was only one facet of a life dedicated to serving his community. A member of the National Association of Realtors and the Southwestern Illinois Board of Realtors, he helped countless people find not just houses, but homes filled with love. His community involvement extended to the Breese Optimist Club (where he served as past-president), National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, former little league softball coach, and the steering committee for the Breese Dog Park. Mike was also a beloved supporter of the Saturday morning youth bowling league at V & H Recreation.

Mike’s zest for life was evident in his passions: hunting, fishing, bowling on the Equity 55 team, golfing, and softball brought him joy, as did the simple pleasure of gathering with friends in his man cave. He had an easygoing, generous nature that welcomed people into his heart and his life, making everyone feel like family. Mike lived his days fully, guided by his love for others and his unwavering belief in living life the way he wanted.

Memorial visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:00-7:30 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese followed by a Celebration of Life Service.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the Breese Dog Park, Breese Optimist Club, or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
