    Patricia T. Holt-Mahlandt, 92, formerly of Trenton, Illinois, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at EverTrue Lenoir Woods in Columbia, Missouri.

     

    She was born August 23, 1933, in Oregon, Illinois, to Edward Thomas and Ruth (Brubaker) Thomas.

    On August 31, 1996, she married Jerry Mahlandt in Belleville, Illinois. They shared 14 years of marriage before his passing on January 29, 2011.

     

    Patricia devoted her professional life to education, retiring in 1986 from Carlyle High School, where she inspired countless students as an English teacher, play director, and speech team coach. She had a deep and lasting love for education, music, and theatre, and she shared her talents generously with her students and community.

     

    She was a faithful and devoted member of Saint John United Church of Christ in Breese, Illinois.

     

    Patricia is survived by her son, Edward (Danette) Darling of Columbia, Missouri; her daughter, Daryle Ann (Eric) Flaherty of Flossmoor, Illinois; her step-sons, Steve (Patti) Mahlandt and Dave (Phyllis) Mahlandt, both of Breese, Illinois; grandchildren Jesse (Katie) Darling, Jacob Darling, Amanda Owen, Josh Owen, and Jack Flaherty; step-grandchildren Chris (Jamie) Mahlandt, Josh (Courtney) Mahlandt, Aaron (Bry) Mahlandt, and Luke (special friend Kris) Mahlandt; and great-grandchildren Daniel and Aubrey Darling; Evan, Jake, and Charlie Mahlandt; and Jack and Rhys Mahlandt.

     

    She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her step-daughter, Marsha Mahlandt.

     

    A memorial service will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Rev. Stephen Stark officiating. Inurnment to follow at St. John’s UCC Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Association and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, which is serving the family.
