Peter J. Boeing, age 85, of St. Rose, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born February 9, 1940, in Breese, a son of the late Henry and Irene (nee Sautman) Boeing.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Boeing (nee Blumenstein) whom he married May 2, 1964, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle and who died March 20, 2020; son, Craig Boeing; siblings, Paul Boeing, Mary Christ, and Michael Boeing; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Agnes (nee Huels) Blumenstein; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jill Blumenstein, Robert Blumenstein, Raymond Blumenstein, and Joseph (Jill) Blumenstein.
Peter is survived by his children, Angela (Robert) Gibson of Beloit, WI, Daniel (Donna) Boeing of St. Rose, Bradley (Sunnie) Boeing of Mount Airy, MD, Stephanie (Joseph) Szoke of Highland, and Nicholas (Amanda) Boeing of Carlyle; grandchildren, Arabel Gibson, Jadyn Gibson, Dee Boeing, Dominic Boeing, Kasandra (Ty) Terry, MaKenna Boeing, Erika Boeing, Eli Szoke, and Alexander Szoke; great-grandson, Logan Terry; siblings, Phyllis (Robert) Faust of Aviston and John (Donna) Boeing of Palos Heights; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jan Boeing of St. Louis, MO, Jack Christ of Arkansas, John Thomas (Debra) Blumenstein of Bolingbrook, Ruth (Don) Costello of Bolingbrook, and Ruth Blumenstein of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peter honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He later pursued his passion for architecture and structural engineering, working at EWR Associates Inc. in Fairview Heights. A dedicated lifelong farmer, Peter took pride in raising beef cattle, Angus, hogs, and grain.
His faith was an integral part of his life. He was a dedicated member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Men’s Sodality, where he also served on the Parish Council. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the American Heritage Museum in Greenville. He also previously served on the St. Rose School Board.
Peter had a passion for antique Case tractors and enjoyed tinkering with them in his spare time. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer presiding. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Daniel Boeing) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
