- Full Obituary
Philip Charles Becker, age 68, of Breese, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at his home in Breese, IL. He was born on January 20, 1957, in Breese, son of Raymond and Leora (Berndsen) Becker of Breese. Philip was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend who loved his people deeply and never failed to put a smile on their faces.
Philip married Julia Becker on October 16th, 1992, and she survives in Breese. In addition to his wife, Philip is survived by his children, Steven J. and Katie (Dunnavant) Becker of Cypress, TX; Emily and Chris Watts of Louisville, KY; many brothers and sisters in law: Margaret (Roger) Foppe of Breese; John Becker (Nancy Nettemeier) of Breese; Jim (Marcia) Becker of Carlyle; Barb Von Alst of Breese; Alicia (Kermit) Smith of Houston, TX, as well as many wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Leora Becker of Breese; his brother Steven Becker of Breese; father and mother-in-law Joseph and Juliana (Woltering) Becker of Breese; brothers-in-law, Charles E. Becker of Breese, John “Pixie” Von Alst of Breese.
A proud 1975 graduate of Mater Dei Catholic High School, Philip enlisted into the United States Navy and served from 1975-1981, when he was honorably discharged. After the Navy, Philip enrolled in Parks College of Aviation and graduated in 1981. After graduation he worked for McDonnell Douglas (later Boeing) for 40 years. He loved anything that flew but he loved nothing more than his family.
He spent his retirement years living easy and surrounding himself with the people he loved most. He made frequent trips to Kentucky and Texas to spend time with his kids and spent countless hours outdoors. You could often find him in his yard; whether he was mowing the grass, completing a project, chatting with the neighbors, or simply sitting in the garage with his best bud, his dog Cabbie, he always found great joy in the outdoors. He was an active husband, father and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. Interment will be at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery at a later date.
