Ralph J. Maue, age 85, of Breese, entered into rest Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Memorial Hospital East in O’Fallon.
He was born February 18, 1935, in Breese, to the late Leo and Regina, nee Heyer, Maue. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by the late Anton and Mary Ann Knies.
Mr. Maue is survived by his wife, JoAnn, nee Ratermann, Maue of Breese, whom he married September 26, 1959, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese; children, Deanna (Patrick) Kreher of Breese and Dara (Kevin) Hagen of Breese; grandchildren, Madison Ratermann and Brandon (Hannah) Ratermann; siblings Althea Schneider and Mary Ann Maue; sisters-in-law Pat Maue and Ruthie Ratermann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerome (Pat) Maue, Lavern “Boots” Maue, James (Mary Lou) Maue, and Wilmer (Judy) Moss; sister Hermina (Elmer) Ross; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Clara, nee Diemeke, Ratermann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Norbert Moorlegher, Lloyd Schneider, Donald and Judy Ratermann, and David Ratermann.
Ralph was previously employed at Warren G. Murray Center, Excel Bottling Company, and the Clinton County Sheriff Department. He also began Maue Catering Service, for which he was known for his fish mix and chicken mix, and was a member of Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation will be at Moss Funeral Home in Breese on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 8:45-9:30 a.m. (Masks are required at the visitation.)
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding. Interment will follow in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. (Due to limited capacity at church, please contact the family via phone to determine if seating is available.)
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Central PAWS, St. Augustine Catholic Church, and Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the funeral home.
