Richard E. “Rich” Dumstorff, Sr., 66, of Germantown, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Dumstorff was born March 12, 1945 in Breese to Edward B. and Florence (Kreke) Dumstorff; they preceded him in death.
Also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Dumstorff; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Horace Sheets, Wanda Murphy, Jackie and Bill Cassidy, Mickey Meyer, Geneva Andrews, and Danny Gibbs.
He married Brenda Andrews on September 28, 1968 at St. Augustine Church in Breese; she survives in Germantown.
Also surviving are his children, Richard (Kim) Dumstorff, Jr. of Trenton and Tammy (Jim) Kreke of Bartelso; 4 Grandchildren, Drew and Emma Dumstorff and Peyton and Cameron Kreke; sisters, Elaine (Eugene) Grapperhaus and JoAnn (Tony) Seiffert all of Carlyle; a brother, Donald Dumstorff of Breese; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Sheets, JoAnn Cortelloni, Louise (Jerry) Digman all of Walnut Ridge, Ark., Dennis Meyer of Batesville, Ark., Harry Andrews, Jr. of Beebe, Ark., Betty Gibbs if Hoxie, Ark., Linda (Delmar) Massy and Steve Andrews all of Paragould, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rich retired after 43 years from Consolidated Rail Corp. (CSX) as a Traffic Manager. He had a great musical talent, playing the piano early in his career with Billy Joe Starr and Merle Travis. He performed many solo jobs and was an early member of the band, The Jorrell's but performed mainly with his longtime band, The Group.
He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and was an avid outdoorsman, mainly enjoying fishing. His greatest love was following his grandchildren through their sporting events and extracurricular activities.
Rich was a member of St. Boniface Church, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869, the Musicians Union, Chairman of the Germantown Spassfest Raffle Committee for 25 years, and was on the Germantown Park Board for 8 years.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 3:00-7:00 PM and again on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 8:00-9:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or to St. Boniface Church and will be received at the funeral home.
