Rita A. Langenhorst, age 77, of New Baden, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon.

 

Mrs. Langenhorst was born March 21, 1941 in St. Louis, a daughter of the late Mack and Dorothy, nee Metz, Kirkpatrick.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Langenhorst whom she married August 7, 1965 and he died July 27, 2001; a sister, Marilyn Harden and her husband Dennis; and a brother, Michael Kirkpatrick.

 

Surviving are her children, Anthony Langenhorst of O’Fallon and Ann (Ken) James of New Baden; grandchildren, Shawn Murphy and Dakota Kruep; siblings, Patricia (Ken) Wigers of Louisiana, MO, Dorothy Meyer of Breese, and Greg (Patrice) Kirkpatrick of St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Donna Kirkpatrick of Arnold, MO; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from the Langenhorst family.

 

Rita was a homemaker and a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and playing cards.

 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah with Fr. Paul Wienhoff presiding. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

 

Visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown and again on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah.

 

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home or church.
