Robert Anthony “Bob” Pitt, age 80, of Breese, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

He was born on July 26, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Maynard and Adelle (née Hinkamp) Pitt. Bob married Joyce (née Albers) Pitt on August 9, 1975, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. She preceded him in death on January 18, 1994.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert and Marie (née Spihlmann) Albers; his brother-in-law, Fred Trokey; and his sister-in-law, Marjorie “Helen” Pitt.

Bob is survived by his children, Stephanie Pitt and Jeff Pitt, both of Breese; his cherished grandson, Owen Pitt; his sister, Marianne Trokey of Brentwood, Missouri; his twin brother, James (Fui Jun Mok) Pitt of Webster Groves, Missouri; and his half-sister, Marilyn Bess of St. Louis. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Kathy (Rich) Haake of Germantown, Ruth (Bill) Nonneman of Springfield, Dennis (Maureen) Albers of Breese, Duane “Norbie” (Donna) Albers of Breese, Elaine (Bob) Tintori of Springfield, Marian (Tom) Voss of Breese, and Karen (Steve) Schmitt of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from high school, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966. He went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and built a career as a tax auditor for the Illinois Department of Revenue. Bob was a faithful member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.

Bob enjoyed an active life filled with simple pleasures. He loved golfing, fishing, participating in his Friday night bowling league, and playing in a 35-and-over slow-pitch softball league. Above all, Bob treasured time spent with his family. His greatest joy was being with his children and especially his grandson, Owen.

Bob will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the quiet joy he found in life’s everyday moments.

Memorial Mass will be Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. James Buerster presiding. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
