Robert A. “Bob” Jansen, age 89, of Breese, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Breese Nursing Home.
He was born October 1, 1928 in Breese, a son of the late Henry A. and Theresia, nee Koerkenmeier, Jansen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melanie Jansen; son-in-law, Gary Suhl; siblings, Henrietta Jansen and husband Alphonse, Dolores Ripperda and husband Norbert, Ralph Jansen, Alice Kohrs and husband Chris, Eileen Detmer and husband Louie, Charlie Jansen and wife Gloria, Don Jansen, and Dave Jansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Regina, nee Wellinghoff, Gebke; and brothers-in-law, Edwin Gebke, Tom Gebke, Bob Gebke, and Tony Gebke, Jr.
Surviving are his wife Theresa, nee Gebke, Jansen of Breese, whom he married June 13, 1950 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Bartelso; children, Bonnie (Charlie) Kunkel of Breese, Gerry (Terry) Foppe of Westminster, CO, Marian Suhl of Centralia, Tony (Sue) Jansen of Breese, Greg (Char) Jansen of Pekin, and Glen (Bridgett) Jansen of Breese; grandchildren, Jill (Mike Wiedman) Kunkel-Wiedman, Tammy (Brandon) Kaier, Patrick (Annie) Foppe, Melissa (Joe) Tebockhorst, Matthew (Casey) Suhl, Nicole (Curt) Carrillon, Chad (Jenny) Jansen, Aften (Josh) Wessel, Justin (Liz) Overby, Crystal (Nolan) Kamp, Trisha Jansen, Ashley (friend Lincoln Mulvaney) Jansen, Jared (friend Bailey Rensing) Jansen, and Alicia Farmer; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Victor (Ruth “Babe”) Jansen of Carlyle and James (Emma “Toots”) Jansen of Breese; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dolores Jansen of Breese, Susan Jansen of St. Louis, Marilyn Jansen of Germantown, Ruth Gebke, Whitey Gebke, Dolly Gebke, Gene (Joann) Gebke all of Bartelso and Regene (Virgil) Heckenkemper of New Baden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was the former co-owner of Jansen Milk Service in Breese and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Holy Name in Breese, Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869 where he formerly served on the Columbian Board, and the Catholic Holy Family Society. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church or to All Saints Academy and will be received at the funeral home.
The Breese Knights of Columbus will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
