Robert J. “Bob” Schmitt

Robert J. “Bob” Schmitt, age 84, of Trenton, died Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden.

Mr. Schmitt was born April 14, 1934 in Lebanon, a son of the late Raymond and Norma, nee Nolan, Schmitt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Schmitt.

Surviving are his wife Joyce, nee Kombrink, Schmitt, whom he married April 2, 1960 at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton; son, Randy (Mary) Schmitt of Freeburg; daughter-in-law, Sheri Schmitt of Aviston; grandchildren, Ashley and Nick Schmitt, Dylan and Brenden Schmitt; sister, Doris (Jerry) Nagel of Calliham, TX; niece, Geraldine (Greg) Wessel of St. Jacob; and nephew, Curtis (Jenny) Nagel of Collinsville.

Bob formerly farmed near Lebanon and retired as a truck driver for Vangenhen and Sons in Belleville. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Christy Eckert officiating. Interment will follow in College Hills Cemetery, Lebanon.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or St. John United Church of Christ and will be received at the funeral home.
