Roger C. Mickelson, age 79, of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his home. He was born April 20, 1945, in Fosston, MN, a son of Eleanor (Nee Stall) Cich of Duluth, MN and the late Reuben Mickelson.
Roger married Mary L. Mickelson (nee Larsen) in October of 1987 in Duluth, MN and she resides in Trenton. In addition to his mother and wife, Roger is survived by his children, Debbie (Mick) Haakinson of Breese, Ted (Mary) Wagner of Tampa, FL, and Cathy (Alvin) Noll of St. Jacob; grandchildren, Joe Wagner, Terry (Victoria) Haakinson, Ryan Haakinson, Sarah Wagner, Adam Noll, and Brittany (Kyle) Nordmann; great-grandchildren, Remi Wagner, Levi Haakinson, Kylie Nordmann, and Ellie Nordmann; siblings, Avis Lindberg of Duluth, MN, Steven (Donna) Mickelson of Duluth, MN, and Bonnie (Richard) Bjark of Mahnomen, MN; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to Roger’s father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arnold Stall and brother-in-law, Doug Lindberg.
Roger was a United States Navy veteran, proudly serving his country from 1965 to 1967. After his military service, he lived and worked in Duluth, MN before moving to Trenton, IL. Roger pursued a career in hospital maintenance, retiring from Scott Air Force Base in 2007.
A man dedicated to community and service, Roger was deeply involved in the American Legion. He was a member of Trenton American Legion Post 778, Past Commander of the 22nd Division American Legion, Adjutant of the 5th Division American Legion, and both Past Commander and Adjutant of Highland American Legion Post 439 and Bond County American Legion.
In his leisure time, Roger found joy in the simplicity of life, particularly in yard work, gardening, and caring for his vibrant flower beds.
Memorial Service will be Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Deacon Tom Ritzheimer officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2025, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 105 S. Main St. Trenton, IL 62293, who is serving the family.
