Rosina J. Hollenkamp, age 91, of Aviston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
She was born on July 20, 1933, in Breese, the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Louise (née Schleper) Pingsterhaus. On May 8, 1957, she married George Hollenkamp at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese. George preceded her in death on January 13, 2019.
Rosina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked hand-in-hand with her husband George on the family farm, where together they raised their five children. A woman of deep faith, Rosina was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Aviston. She was actively involved in parish life through the Altar Sodality and the church choir. Her dedication extended to the community through her longtime membership with the Aviston American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1239, where she served as a past president and helped organize funeral luncheons and wedding celebrations.
Family meant everything to Rosina. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, rarely missing a school function or sporting event. Her warm hospitality was felt through her love of quilting, cooking, and gathering for card parties and family celebrations.
Rosina is survived by her children, Gary (Louella) Hollenkamp of Breese, Diane (Dan) Athmer of Damiansville, Brad (Sara) Hollenkamp of Pocahontas, Eric (Pam) Hollenkamp of Aviston, and Mara (Tom) Koerkenmeier of Aviston; her grandchildren, Samantha (Matt) Jansen, Mary Jo (Jon) Buehne, Gina (Jeremy) Haar, Jessie (Michael) Sudholt, Casey (Matt) Schuette, Megan (fiancé Will Fogler) Kujawa, Alana Hollenkamp, Lucas Hollenkamp, Dylan Hollenkamp, Noah Hollenkamp, Clare Koerkenmeier, and John Koerkenmeier; and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Garrison Jansen, Emmett and Arlo Buehne, Conlan and Braelyn Haar, Weston and Haisley Sudholt, Cal and Ryce Strotheide, and Heath and Dutton Schuette.
She is also survived by her sister, Rita Ottensmeier of Trenton; sisters-in-law, Imelda Pingsterhaus of Beckemeyer, Marie Hollenkamp of New Baden, and Ruth Timmermann of Breese; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rosina was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond Pingsterhaus, Cecilia (Greg) Buss, Alvin Pingsterhaus, Regina (Wilfred) Emig, Quinton Pingsterhaus, Ralph Pingsterhaus, and Loretta Pingsterhaus (in infancy); her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George H. and Eugenia (née Kniepmann) Hollenkamp; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marcellus Ottensmeier, Florence (Joe) Seiffert, Virgil Hollenkamp, and Rich Timmermann.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Aviston with Fr. Von Deeke presiding. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
