Royce “Fletch” Fletcher, age 88 of Germantown passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born May 16, 1930 in Enigma, Georgia to Lenton Fletcher Sr. and Mary Iola (Smith) Fletcher. They preceded him in death.
He married Marlene (Schoendienst) Fletcher on June 23, 1967 in Belleville, IL. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2017.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by Mother and Father-In-laws John and Laura Schoendienst, son Michael Fletcher, his brothers Robert (Ruby) Fletcher, Aubrey (Claudia) Fletcher, Lenton Jr. (Nelda) Fletcher as well as sisters Rosalie (Clifford) Lee, Catherine (JB) Smith, and Ollie Mae (Theron) Brown. Other In-laws include Corrine (Schoendienst) and Jerome Eversgerd, Frank Schoendienst and Dennis Winter.
Surviving are his children Kathy (Larry) Trueblood of Leesburg, FL, Deborah Winter of Cumming, GA, Karen (Dave) Parker of Lilburn, GA, Richard (Deb) Fletcher of Dacula, GA, Gary (Eileen) Fletcher of Bellevue, NE, Sharon (Mike) Seelhoefer of Damiansville and Lisa (Greg) Gent of Germantown, Step-Children Terry Eversgerd and Kelly (Cheryl) Eversgerd of Germantown.
Grandchildren include Jamie and Connie Fletcher; Chris (Trish) and Todd (Bonnie) Trueblood; Cyndi (Joe) Kraudy, Kellie, Jeff (Kim) and Dan (Chelsea) Kuhl; Andy (Amy), Mark, and Katie (fiance Collin) Fletcher; Nicole and Jason White; Lee, Jonathon (Amy) and Anthony (Britani) Fletcher; Nicole (Steve) Winkeler; Bethany, Kasey and Ethan Gent, Kayla (special friend Tristan) and Kyle (special friend Carrie) Eversgerd as well as 34 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Mary Drury of Tallahassee, Fl and a sister-in-law Betty Schoendienst of Belleville, IL.
Royce is a veteran of the Air Force having served 21 years. He retired from Civil Service in 1997 having managed bowling centers through MWR at Scott AFB, and Yokota, Japan. He was manager of the Breese Senior Center, and had a small clock repair business.
Royce was a member of Germantown Legion Post 325 and a Hall of Fame member of the Greater Carlyle Bowling Association.
In keeping with his wishes, “Fletch” donated his body to Saint Louis University. Visitation with the family will be held at the American Legion in Germantown on April 27, 2019 from 9AM to 11AM. A service will be held at 11AM followed by lunch.
Memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program, and will be received at the Legion, or can be mailed to Clinton County Senior Services Carlyle, IL 62231 or will be received through Moss Funeral Home who is serving the family.
