  • Full Obituary

Ryan S. Tiek, age 40, of Germantown, and formerly of Bethalto, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024.  He was born April 5, 1983, a son of Les and Sue, nee Boeshans, Tiek of Holiday Shores.

In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by his wife, Mindy Tiek, nee Benson, of Germantown, whom he married January 7, 2006 in Branson, MO; children, Ethan Blankenship of Panama, Myron Tiek, and Emma Tiek, both of Germantown; sister, Ashleigh (Rob) Cornwell of Perrysburg, OH; nieces, Alaina and Chloe Cornwell; siblings, Kristina, Hailey, and Tiffany; mother-in-law, Tina Ash of Panama; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robby (Kim) Benson and Kyle (Debbie) Benson, all of Panama.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delmar “Papa” and Hilda “Grammy” Tiek, and Art and Laverne Boeshans; father-in-law, Alvin “Bear” Ash; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jeff “Sparky” and Nancy Benson; and close friends, Lucas Weimers and Brad Yotter.

A graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto in 2001, Ryan pursued a career in hoof care, mastering the trade in Madison, WI. He owned and operated R. Tiek & Sons Dairy Farm in Athens, WI, for four years, before relocating to Germantown, IL, where he founded Southern Illinois Hoof Care. For the past 13 years, Ryan has been known as the "Cow Whisperer," providing his invaluable services to numerous farms across Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri.

Ryan's passion for golf started at a young age, excelling as a junior golfer and making history as the first-ever qualifier from Civic Memorial High School for the Illinois High School Association State Golf Tournament. He remained an avid golfer, sharing his love for the sport with his wife and children and was often sought out to be the “ringer” for numerous golf scrambles.  Ryan also enjoyed motor cross racing, fishing with his kids, playing euchre, and shooting pool in leagues for Valbo’s and Millside.

Ryan's charismatic personality, great sense of humor, and love for classic country and folk music made him a one-of-a-kind individual; he was a good kind of different. He embraced life's uniqueness, always bringing out the best in people. He adored dancing with his wife, Mindy, and transformed from an ordinary husband and father to a passionate family man over the years.
