Teresa Jo Reed, age 65, of Breese, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born March 6, 1959, in Springfield MO, a daughter of the late Reuel and Marian (nee Simmons) Horton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Reed (nee Dillinger); and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike Quandt, Steve Clark, Norman E. Schuchman, Nancy Alvis, and Clyde Reed.
Teresa is survived by her husband, John Reed, of Breese, whom she married April 11, 1983, in Ocean Springs, MS; children, Christopher (Courtney) Reed of Beckemeyer and Lacy (Chad) Hartlieb of Breese; grandchildren, Logan, Gabriella, and Leyna Jo Reed, and Brody and Dylan Hartlieb; siblings, Tami Quandt of Salem, Tracy Clark of New Burn, TN, and Mikel (Patricia) Horton of Yellville, AR; sister-in-law, Glenna Schuchman of Junction City; numerous nieces and nephews; and fur baby, Pixie Mae.
Teresa was known in the community for her dedicated work at Turf Lounge, where she managed for over twenty-five years, and more recently at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Breese until her retirement. She served as a former member and past-president of the Breese Jaycees, giving back to her community in countless ways. Her hobbies included tracking family genealogy, boating, and traveling, with a special love for blues festivals. Family was central to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, attending as many of their sports and school events as she could. Known for her culinary skills, Teresa’s kitchen was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, noodles, and her signature pumpkin rolls at Thanksgiving.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese. A celebration of life will follow at St. Rose Development Club in St. Rose at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to John Reed) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
