    Terry B. Fields, age 66, of Breese, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his loving family.

     

    He was born October 4, 1956 in Mount Clemens, MI, a son of the late Thomas and Marie, nee Seiffert, Fields.  He married Suann Fields, nee Frey, on May 21, 1994 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and she survives in Breese.

     

    In addition to his wife, Terry is survived by his daughters, Molly Fields of Springfield, MO, Sophia (Trevor) Schubert of Breese, and Lauren (friend, Tyler Woods) Fields of Breese; bonus daughter, Kathrin (Jens) Habegger of Munich, Germany; special grandson, Jonathon Habegger; mother-in-law and step-father-in-law, Judy, nee Wall, Frey-Kahrhoff and Paul Kahrhoff of Highland; step-mother-in-law, Sue Ammann-Frey of Highland; siblings, Donna (Rick) Gruenenfelder of St. Rose, Darlene Fields of Breese, and Kenny (Pam) Fields of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron (Mary) Larry of Springboro, OH, Rick (Lucy) Frey of Maryville, and Nancy (Toni Corona) Frey of Maryville; numerous step-sisters-in-law and step-brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Tim) Schaaf, Krystal Gruenenfelder, Shannon (Ben) Abramson, Jay Fields, Katie (Brad) Maddox, RJ (Christina) Larry, and John-Michael (Jess) Larry; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

     

    Terry was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Linus Frey; sister-in-law, Terri Larry; and niece, Kara Gruenenfelder.

     

    Terry was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He served active duty from August 12, 1974 – March 9, 1977 and then served in the reserves from March 9, 1977 – August 11, 1980.  He was very proud to be a Seabee in the Navy.  Terry later hauled milk for Boeckman Milk Hauling, was Superintendent of the City of Breese Street Department, and then retired in September 2020 as Superintendent for Hank’s Excavating & Landscaping Inc in Belleville.

     

    Terry was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and served as an Usher, Breese American Legion Post 252, City of Breese Alderman Ward 3, National Trappers Association Member, and former Breese Volunteer Fireman.  He enjoyed coin collecting, trapping, bee keeping, golfing, cooking, reading, and bike riding.

     

    Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese with full military honors accorded.

     

    Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and again Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

     

    In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or Breese American Legion Post 252 and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
