Veronica C. Beckmann, age 96, of St. Rose, died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
Mrs. Beckmann was born March 16, 1922 in St. Rose, a daughter of the late August and Rosa, nee Thole, Vonder Haar. She married Eugene Beckmann October 16, 1946 at St. Rose Catholic Church; he preceded her in death October 6, 1998.
Mrs. Beckmann is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean (Tom) Harper of St. Rose; grandchildren Thomas Harper II, Michael Harper, Brandy Beckmann, and Lindsay Beckmann; great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Paislee, and Paxton; siblings Al (Pat) Vonder Haar of Greenville, Eddie (JoAnn) Vonder Haar of St. Rose, and Charlie (Lorraine) Vonder Haar of Carlyle; sisters-in-law Pat Vonder Haar of St. Rose, Florence Beckmann of Centralia, Margaret Beckmann of Breese, and Lori Reynolds of Florissant, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Beckmann; grandson Christopher Harper; brothers Augie, Vincent, Bernard, and Francis Vonder Haar; sisters Bertha Fuhler and her husband John, Leona Maue and her husband Al, Jeannie Meyer and her husband Larry; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Clarence Beckmann, Margie and Al Schmidt, Alice and Edgar Koerkenmeier, Joe Reynolds, Vic and Rita Beckmann, and Cyril Beckmann.
Mrs. Beckmann was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and St. Rose Development Club. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, and playing cards.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, July 23, 2018 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Schaefer presiding. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
Memorials may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church and will be received through Moss Funeral Home, who is serving the family.
