Virginia J. “Ginny” Southers

Virginia J. “Ginny”, nee Haas, Southers, age 78, of Breese, died Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Breese Nursing Home.

Mrs. Southers was born August 4, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late Julia, nee Templemeier, Haas.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Dorothy, nee Griesbaum, Southers, brother-in-law James H. Southers and sister-in-law Dorothy Jean Southers.

She is survived by her husband Robert “Larry” Southers of Breese, IL whom she married October 30, 1973 in Highland, IL; a daughter Julia (Mark) Reed of Highland, IL; grand dog Addy Lu; sisters-in-law Melanie Southers of AZ, Gail Gross of Beckemeyer, IL, and Kay Jean Smith of Kennesaw, GA.

Ginny retired from the Public Health Dept. at SAFB. She was formerly a member of St. Dominic’s Church and the Altar Sodality. She enjoyed to travel, read, do word searches and crossword puzzles. Ginny love to e-mail and use any technology gadgets.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Carlyle City Cemetery, Carlyle, IL with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding.

Memorials may be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or Arthritis Foundation and will be received through Moss Funeral Home 535 N. 5th St. Breese, IL who is serving the family.
