Virginia L. “Jinny,” nee Snider, Mahlandt, age 88, of Breese, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.
She was born October 19, 1930 in Rochester, NY, to the late Ellwood and Alice, nee Morse, Snider.
Surviving are her sons, Steve (Patti) Mahlandt of Breese and Dave (Phyllis) Mahlandt of Breese; four grandsons, Chris (Jamie), Josh (Courtney), Aaron (friend Bry Day), and Luke; three great-grandsons, Evan, Jake, and Charlie; and sister-in-law Janet Snider. She was excitedly awaiting the upcoming arrival of her fourth great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha K. Mahlandt; brother, Robert H. Snider; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erwin and Evelyn Mahlandt.
Jinny was a 1950 graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and retired from HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese, loved playing cards, and was an avid golfer.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese with Reverend Jim Donahue officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Breese.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home, who is serving the family.
