Doris K. Haas 90 of Trenton died Friday April 28, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.

She was born December 1, 1926 in Lebanon to Eugene and Kathryn (Harpstrite) Haas: they preceded her in death.

Also, preceded in death by sons Ronald and Robert Haas, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Surviving are her children Rick Haas of Trenton, Rhonda Sprehe of Mt. Vernon, Rodney (Kimberly) Haas of Finger, TN.

9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

Doris was retired from the County Journal where she was Regional Vice President. She loved gardening and flowers and playing Bingo.

She was member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, VFW Auxiliary Mascoutah.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Trenton. Fr. Joseph Rascher presiding. Interment Holy Childhood Cemetery, Mascoutah.

Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 2 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Moss Funeral Home, Trenton.

Clara C. Rakers

Clara C. Rakers, nee Fuhler, age 94 of Breese, born April 30, 1922 in St. Rose, a daughter of the late Bernard “Ben” and Rose, nee Haar, Fuhler, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Legacy Place in Breese.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rakers, whom she married November 9, 1944 at St. Rose Catholic Church and he died May 3, 1985; a son, Michael Rakers; brothers, Theodore Fuhler, Bernard Fuhler, and John Fuhler; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Theresia, nee Wilke, Rakers; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bertha Fuhler, Sally Fuhler, Cletus Fuehne, Dorothy and Robert Kalmer, Henrietta Mondt-Septeowski, Joe Mondt, Al Septowski, Alvina and Al Feldmann, and Edward Rakers.

Surviving are her children, Harry (Cheri) Rakers of Champaign, Judy (Joe) Husmann of Breese, Stan (Diane) Rakers of Aviston, Norb (Debbie) Rakers of Frogtown, Ron (Dana) Rakers of Highland, Ralph (Nancy) Rakers of Carlyle, John (Mary Ann) Rakers of Breese, and Mary (John) Scott of Breese; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Victor Fuhler of Trenton, Agnes (Wilbert) Huelsmann of Breese, and Helen (Stan) Timmermann of Breese; sisters-in-law, Jane Fuhler of St. Rose and Rita “Butch” Fuehne of Damiansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rakers was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality and resurrection Choir in Breese, Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Breese. Clara enjoyed playing cards and quilting, but most of all spending time with her family.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter presiding. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston.

Visitation will be Friday, April 21, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8:30-10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church or to St. Francis Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.

The Daughters of Isabella will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

: Bernice A. Gebke (Nee Beckmann) 89 of Germantown died Sunday April 16, 2017 at Countryside Manor in Aviston.

She was born November 8, 1928 in Germantown to Alphonse and Christine (Wobbe) Beckmann: they precede her in death.

Also, preceded in death by a son Mike Gebke, granddaughter Sharon Bergmann, sister Sally Becker, two brothers in infancy, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Paul Becker, Corney and Helen Gebke, Norbert and Clara Gebke, Betty and Alphonse Eversgerd, Pat and Joe Haake, Bernard “Jr.” and Rita Gebke, Tom Gebke, Greg Eversgerd, Arnie Michels, Stanley Goewert, Paul Jansen.

She married Valerian “Larry” Gebke May 7, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church and he survives.

Also surviving are his children Gerry (Penni) Gebke of Springfield, Kathy (Pete) Bergmann of Bartelso, Ernie Gebke of Breese, Marilyn (Dave) Spihlmann of Albers.

Daughter-in-law Diane “Fuzzy” Gebke of Germantown.

Bernice was a homemaker and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Germantown, Clinton County Farm Bureau. Bernice enjoyed quilting, dancing, playing cards and bingo. She especially enjoyed watching tv game shows.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby presiding. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday April 20, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Leonard A. “Lenny” Gibbons Sr. 78 of Breese died Thursday April 13, 2017 at Highland Heath Care Center.

He was born July 10, 1938 in Chicago to Leonard and Violet (Woodburn) Gibbons; they preceded him in death.

Also, preceded in death by a son Lenny Gibbons Jr., and a brother Michael Gibbons.

He married Patricia Woodburn-Leadlove April 21, 1978 in Belleville and she survives.

Lenny retired from Children’s Center for Behavior Development (CCBD) in Centerville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Member of American Legion Post 252 in Breese. Lenny enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a history enthusiast of WWI and WWII.
