Rita F. Schrage, age 88 of St. Rose, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at her residence.

She was born June 13, 1928 in Highland, to Herman and Antonia (Ungrund) Drees: they preceded her in death.

She married Edmund “EJ” Schrage September 8, 1953 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and he preceded her in death May 18, 1993.

Also preceded in death by a son Kevin Schrage, a brother Victor Drees, sisters, Ceil Ciezadlo, Joann Ryndak, Louise Ribbing, Helen Drees, brothers-in-law Vincent Schrage, Andy Schrage, Clarence Schrage, Tony Schrage, David Schrage, sister-in-law Casean Schrage

Surviving are her children Denise (Charles) Peters of Highland, Kenneth Schrage of Alton, Arnold Schrage of St. Rose.

Rita was a homemaker and previously worked at Wicks Organ Company and Breese Arrow Group Ind. She enjoyed stitching, quilting, word puzzles and playing cards. She loved to collect angels.

Member of St. Rose Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, Daughters of Isabella, St Rose and Breese senior cictizens, Clinton County Farm Bureau, Catholic Holy Family Society.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday July 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose. Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating. Interment St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, July 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday July 9 from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to St. Rose Church or American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.

Edwin Weier

Edwin H. Weier 90 of Germantown died Monday, July 4, 2016 in Breese.

He was born April 14, 1926 in Germantown to Fred “Fritz” and Eleanor (Schleper) Weier: they preceded him in death.

He married Grace Deerhake September 22, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Germantown and she preceded him in death June 5, 2014.

Also preceded in death by brothers Clarence, Alfred. Wilbert and Fred Jr. Weier, sisters Alice and Helen Weier, son-in-law Dale Peters, brother-in-law George Brauer.

Edwin worked Civil Service at S.A.F.B. as an electrician. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling and being a “Snowbird” in Texas, and he was an all-around got to Mr. Fix it man.

Funeral mass of Christian burial will be Saturday July 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. Fr James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby presiding. Interment with militaty honors will be at St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Thomas T. Richter

Thomas T. Richter, 81, a lifelong resident of Aviston Il, was called home to God on Thursday, June 30, 2016, after a year-long battle with squamous cell cancer. He was born on October 24, 1934 in Aviston Illinois, the youngest son of Henry and Cecelia (nee Huene) Richter. He attended Aviston Grade School and High School, Graduating from high school in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 in Germany. He married Margaret Klostermann on September 24, 1957 at St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose IL and she survives in Aviston.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Richter is survived by his 9 children, 6 daughters and 3 sons, Karen Richter and husband Tom of Breese, Mary Jo “Jody” Varel and husband Leon of Bartelso, Gary Richter and wife Carol of Highland, Maureen “Reen” Isaak and special friend Joe Toenyes of Breese, Deanne Remmert and friend Mark Childerson of St. Rose, Tricia Weis and husband Dave of Aviston, Jill Helmkamp and husband Brent of Breese, Brad Richter and wife Jami of Aviston, and Craig Richter and wife Stephanie of Breese; 27 grandchildren, Melissa (John) Becker, Lauren (Dustin) Melton, Philip Varel, Luke Varel, Sara (Jim) Smith, Adam Richter, Aften Richter, Annalyse Richter, Colby Isaak, Megan Isaak, Brittany Isaak, Blake Remmert, Brooke Remmert, Brady Weis, Mikaela Weis, Myah Helmkamp, Danica Helmkamp, Lydia Helmkamp, Mallory Richter, Jake Richter, Cecelia Richter, Maci Richter, Kendal Richter, Kadence Richter, and Mabree Richter, and 7 great grandchildren. Sister-in-Laws and Brothers-in-Laws Betty Richter, Cletus Koerkenmeier, Vince Klostermann, Leann Klostermann, Joe and Becky Klostermann, Edie and Carl Gerhard, and Helen Klostermann. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Cornelius “Dick” Richter, brother-in-law Clarence Schrage, Burnell Weinheimer, Robert Klostermann, Tom Burke, Sisters-in-laws Mary Richter, Catherine Koerkenmeier, and Delores “Tudy” Weinheimer.

Mr. Richter was a dairy and grain farmer, and had a passion for agriculture. In his youth, he was active in FFA and 4-H, and developed a love for showing cattle. He showed at numerous fairs including the Illinois State Fair for many years. He was very proud to have the first classified bred and owned “Excellent” cow in the county, Home Crest Dixie Marie. He helped organize the A-B 4-H club in the Aviston and Breese area in the late ‘60’s, after no agriculture 4-H club had been in the area for some time. He served as assistant leader for several years. Tom was also a member of the Clinton County Holstein Club, the Illinois Holstein Club, and assisted at the Clinton County Classic Sales. In later years, he enjoyed gardening and showed grain and garden produce at the local county fairs.

He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church and choir, Aviston, American Legion Post 1239 Aviston, Clinton County Farm Bureau. He was a regular bowler at Hank’s Bowl in Trenton for many years.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 5 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday July 6, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Moss Funeral Home in Breese
Members of the Aviston American legion will hold services at 7:00 PM on Tuesday July 5 at the funeral home.

Lawrence H. “Cannon” Timmerman Jr. 82 of Breese died Monday June 27, 2016 at his residence.

Cannon retired from Granite City Steel as a supervisor. He was a member of Carlyle Christian Church in Carlyle. Breese American Legion Post 252 and U.S.W.A. Local 25.

He was born April 22, 1934 in Breese to Marie (Oliver) and Lawrence Timmerman Sr. They preceded him in death.

He married Jaclene Millfelt, November 22, 1958 in Overland, MO and she preceded him in death September 28, 2014.

Also preceded in death by sisters Rita Cissell, Jeanne Kreke, brother-in-law Norval Kreke.

Surviving are his children Dominic (Doris) Timmerman of Carlyle, Beverly Timmerman of Breese, Eric (Marcia) Timmerman of Gladstone, MO, Karla Givens of Breese.
