Linda L. Roane

Linda L. Roane 70 of Breese died Friday August 28, 2015 at Carlyle Health Care Center, surrounded by her family.

Linda was born in Breese on February 13, 1945 to George “Soup” and LaDona (Nee Brown) Goewert who preceded her in death. Also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Dr. Robert Roane and Adele Roane.

She married Robert Roane in Carlyle, on December 17, 1966 and he survives.

She is also survived by her son John and his wife Sharon (nee Lowery) Roane of Breese

Three grandchildren Hailey, Hannah and Clayton all of Breese.

A sister Georgean Goewert of Breese.

Two sisters-in-law Beth and husband Eric Giebelhausen and Cathy and her husband David Malbry.

Two nephews and one niece and 9 great nieces and nephews.

Linda had worked at Breese State Farm office for 34 years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and served on the consistory for many years.

Funeral Services will be Monday August 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. Rev. Phil Chapman officiating. Interment St. John Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Sunday August 30 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday August 31, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to St. John United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Lorene B. Fauke

Lorene B. Fauke, nee Strieker, age 92 of Germantown, born August 10, 1923 in Albers to the late Henry and Elizabeth, nee Sudholt, Strieker, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mrs. Fauke formerly worked at the Marine Garment Factory and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, canning, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester “Bud” Fauke, whom she married April 23, 1946 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, and he died March 2, 2012; a daughter, Jane Fauke-Williams; a son, William “Beef” Fauke; a sister, Linda Rudolph; brothers, Vince Strieker, Lawrence Strieker, Elmer Strieker, and Gene Strieker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Rudolph, Catherine Strieker, Robert Schuchmann, Acquilene and Cletus Lager.

Surviving are her children, Joyce Schwadtke and husband Ha-Jo of Barmstedt, Germany, Gerald Fauke of Germantown, and Mary Lou Babb and husband Mike of Germantown; 3 grandchildren, Jill Schwadtke, Flynn Fauke, and Lisl Fauke; siblings, Robert Strieker and wife Irene of Albers, and Mildred Schuchmann of Carlyle; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Strieker of Belleville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to St. Boniface Cemetery and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Germantown who is handling the arrangements.

Margaret M. Parent

Margaret M. Parent, nee Voss, age 62 of Swansea, born August 20, 1952 in Breese, a daughter of the late Robert and Pauline, nee Venhaus, Voss, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

Mrs. Parent was the Branch Manager at First National Bank in Waterloo and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fairview Heights. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Amy Mooney and husband Chad and Ryan Parent and wife Mindy all of Swansea; 5 grandchildren, Cole, Brock, and Madeline Mooney, Jackson and Cameron Parent; her siblings, Jim Voss and wife Betty of Highland and Marilyn Sudholt and husband Bob of Aviston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Leon Parent, whom she married September 23, 1972 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston, and he died November 28, 2002; and her brother, Donald Voss.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Fr. Daniel Friedman officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and again on Monday, August 15, 2015 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.

Robert G. “Smitty” Rickhoff

Robert G. “Smitty” Rickhoff, age 83 of Breese, IL, born August 11, 1932 in Lookingglass Twp, IL to the late Henry and Frances, nee Luebke, Rickhoff, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his residence.

Smitty was a Veteran of the United States Army, retired from the Jefferson-Smurfit Corp. in Highland, IL, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL, Breese American Legion Post 252, Carlyle VFW Post 3523, and the United Steelworkers Local 1215.

Surviving is his wife Lucille, nee Bergmann, Rickhoff, of Breese, IL, whom he married September 4, 1956 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, IL; his daughters, Nancy Huelsmann and husband Dale and Marla Strieker and husband Curt all of Breese, IL; 3 grandchildren, Nicole Voss and husband Scott, Jason “Jay” Strieker and wife Brittany, and Courtney Strieker; 3 great-grandchildren, Maddie Voss, Tucker and Tinley Strieker; his siblings, Paul “Massey” Rickhoff and wife Betty of Bartelso, IL and Loretta “Tootie” Trame of Carlyle, IL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Gehrs and husband Jim of Swansea, IL and Sally Bergmann of Alpharetta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred “Bigfoot” Rickhoff; a sister, Bernice Loepker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, August “Augie” Trame, Fronie Rickhoff, Vic Loepker, Ceil and Ferdie Thien, Adele and August Sundrup. Lawrence “Pete” Bergmann, Joseph “Fritz” and Ruth Bergmann.

A Memorial Mass will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic~St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese, IL.

Visitation will held Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese, IL.

Memorials can be made in the form of Masses or to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese and will be received at the funeral home.

The Breese American Legion will hold services at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
