Florence C. Peters

Florence C. Peters, nee Haar, 82, of Germantown, died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Peters was born November 16, 1931 in Germantown to Theodore and Cecilia (Linnemann) Haar; they preceded her in death.

She married Norbert “Pete” Peters on September 20, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown; he preceded her in death on December 16, 1992.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Dolores “Dolly” Bach; brothers, Robert Haar, Lewis Haar, and Edwin ”Tracy” Haar; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Elizabeth (Kuhl) Peters; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin Bach, Louise Haar, Alfred Mensing Arthur Luebbers, Paul Santucci, Marcel Peters, and Leonard Peters.

Surviving are her children, Mike (Gail) Peters of New Baden, Steve (special friend Julie Deiters) Peters of Breese, Dale (Becky) Peters Germantown, Yvonne (Tim) Wolfe of Beckemeyer, Carol (Brian) Becker of Germantown, Dianne (John) Michels of Germantown, Patrick Peters of Bartelso, and Donna (Rick) Ottensmeier of Aviston; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Mensing of Germantown, Jane Luebbers of Germantown, and Mary Santucci of Racine, WI; a brother, Ted (Mary) Haar of Breese; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Haar of St. Louis, MO, Mary Haar of DeSoto, MO, and Dorothy Peters of Manhattan, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florence was a homemaker and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 2:00-6:00 pm and again on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Neil W. Wyatt

Neil E. Wyatt, 72, of Summerfield, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

Mr. Wyatt was born February 8, 1940 in Whitehall, IL to George and Pauline (Highfill) Wyatt; they preceded him in death.

He married Vida Redden on August 29, 1964 at Fort Hood Chapel in Texas; she survives in Summerfield.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his children, Joel (Leslie) Wyatt of Cottonwood, CA and Nathan (Christina) Wyatt of Troy; 7 grandchildren, Leslie, Terry, Vanessa, Suzanna, Logan, Ethan, and Josie; a brother, Keith (Julie) Wyatt of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Janet (Scott) Reeves of New York, NY; and a cousin, Gerald Wyatt of St. Charles, MO.

Neil retired from the Highland School District #6 and was the Principal at Grantfork Elementary where he also taught 5th and 6th grade.

Member of West Gate Baptist Church in Trenton and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the 2nd Armored “Hell on Wheels”.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Paul Hooks and Youth Minister Levi Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Summerfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Lucille M. Abeln, nee Schulte,95, of Ingleside, IL and formerly of Breese, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Abeln was born May 23, 1918 in Carlyle, IL to Albert and Anna (nee Hollenkamp) Schulte; they preceded her in death.

She married Leo Abeln on November 4, 1935 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese; he preceded her in death on December 25, 1988.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Walter Schulte and Albert “Bud” Schulte; and a son-in-law, John Simon.

Surviving are her children, Mary A. (Dennis) Frey of Ingeside, IL, Leonard A Abeln Wilmington, IL, Helen J. Simon of Palatine, IL, Phillip Abeln of Peshtigo, WI, and Maurice (Georgia) Abeln of Windsor, MO; 9 grandchildren, Shawn (Mary) Frey, Dan Abeln, Michael (Jennifer) Simon, Wendy Johnson, Brian Abeln, Chris Abeln, Marcia King, Joseph Abeln and Misty Abeln; 11 great grandchildren, Breanna Atlee, Tiffany Weinreis, Travis Frey, Emma Abeln, Matthew Johnson, Lincoln Abeln, Talee Abeln, Jasmin King, Taylor King, Makayra King, and Tatum Boenkle; 4 great-great grandchildren; Wyatt Atlee, Dylaeni Atlee, Annabelle Weinreis, and Ian Weinreis; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dorothy A. Huelsmann, nee Kampwerth, 87, of Aviston, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

Mrs. Huelsmann was born October 6, 1926 in Beckemeyer to Herman and Wilhelmina (Schmuck) Kampwerth; they preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Kampwerth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benedict and Cecilia (Schrage) Huelsmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vince Huelsmann, Eugene and Marcella Huelsmann, Marcella Huelsmann in childhood, and Paul Huelsmann in childhood.

She married Andrew Huelsmann on June 15, 1954 at St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer; he survives in Aviston.

Mary A. Wuebbels, nee Wempe, 92, of Trenton, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Faith Care Center in Highland.

Mrs. Wuebbels was born July 15, 1921 in Aviston, IL to Henry and Christine (Schonhoff) Wempe; they preceded her in death.

She married William B. “Bill” Wuebbels on January 7, 1942 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston; he preceded her in death on March 29, 1994.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Urban Wempe, Charles Wempe, and Paul Wempe; a sister, Dinah White; brothers-in-law, Bob White and Don Finch; and a sister-in-law, Vi Wempe.

Surviving are her children, Rosemary (Del) Seaton of St. Louis, Bill (Kathy) Wuebbels of Highland, Paul (Lynn) Wuebbels of St. Louis, Gary (Carman) Wuebbels of Havana, Terry Wuebbels of Trenton, and Larry (Rita) Wuebbels of Trenton; 9 grandchildren, Scott (Karen) Seaton, Sheri (Mark) Stevenson, Shelly (Tony) Zeller, Chris (friend Janola Rigsby) Wuebbels, Jason (Mary) Wuebbels, Paula (Shawn) Hart, Shannon (Shane) Jaeger, Olivia Wuebbels and Oliver Wuebbels; a sister, Olie (friend Jim Riley) Finch of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law, Helen Wempe of Connecticut.

Terry D. Thornton

Terry Thornton 58 of Highland and formerly of Trenton died Wednesday October 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland.

He was born November 13, 1954 in Breese, to Donald and Leatta (Pendegraft) Thornton: they survive in Summerfield.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ricky Thornton, grandparents Glenn and Eva Thornton, Orville and Leona Pendegraft, father-in-law and mother-in-law Edmund and Leola Korte.

He married Rosemary Korte February 19, 1985 in Belleville and she survives in Trenton.

Also survived by his children Kahla Thornton of Trenton, Kyle (Molly) Thornton of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Rachel (friend Nick Sparlin) of Trenton.

Grandchildren Liam, Henry, Abigail Thornton and anticipating the arrival of baby Thornton in December.

Sisters and brothers, Trinje (friend Rick VonHatten) Reidelberger of Highland, Jeff Thornton of Highland, Patrick Thornton of Highland, Lisa (Tony) Frazier of Lebanon, David (Sharon) Thornton of Trenton.

Terry received his associated degree in HVAC from B.A.C., Currently employed with Ace Hardware in Highland as a sales associate, and was the past custodian at St. Mary Church in Trenton.

Terry was an avid Cardinal fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
