Douglas Phillips Jr. 82 of Breese and formerly of Miami, FL died Sunday June 23, 2013 at Breese Nursing Home.
James F. “Jim” Schumacher 54 of St. Rose died surrounded by family on Saturday June 22, 2013 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO
David J. Kreke, 53, of Bartelso, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
Mr. Kreke was born January 7, 1960 in Breese to Henry “Hank” and Dolores “Blondie” (Grawe) Kreke; they survive in Bartelso.
He married Pam Jensen on October 18, 1986 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso; she survives in Bartelso.
Also surviving are his children, Emily (Craig) Gnaedinger of St. Rose, Laura Kreke of DeSoto, MO, Matthew Kreke of Bartelso, and Sarah Kreke of Bartelso; sisters and brothers, Ellen (Steve) Huegen of Bartelso, Lynn (Ken) Rehkemper of Trenton, Pam (Dan) Rakers of Aviston, Al Kreke of Lebanon, Anita Foster of Beckemeyer, Mark Kreke of Iuka, Michelle (Rick)Taphorn of Carlyle, Brian (Cheryl) Kreke of Bartelso, and Sharon (Keith) Kellermann of Carlyle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Louise (Simmons) Jensen of Centralia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Julie (Forest) Langenfeld of Centralia, J.R. (Bobbie) Jensen of Fredericktown, MO and Jeff (Mary Jo) Jensen of Fredericktown, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave received his B.S. Degree in Accounting from Eastern Illinois University and was a former Agent (1985-1990) for the Internal Revenue Service. He currently was the owner of David J. Kreke and Associates in Bartelso and was the Bartelso Village Clerk.
He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso, Bartelso Knights of Columbus Council 4745, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Bishop Althoff Assembly, and was a former school board member.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso.
Visitation will be Monday, June 24, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
Joseph J. Haas 95 of Trenton died Friday June 21, 2013 at Aviston Countryside Manor.
M. Humphrey, nee Rosen, 89, of Germantown, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Aviston Countryside Manor,
Mrs. Humphrey was born July 8, 1923 in Germantown, IL to Bernard and Margaret (Korte) Rosen; they preceded her in death.
She married Kenneth E. Humphrey on December 27, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1996.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two infant children; a son, Kenneth J. Humphrey; a sister, Jeanette Holtgrave; a brother Robert Rosen; a sister-in-law, Adelle Parker; and a brother-in-law, Victor Warnecke.
Surviving are her children, Mary (Laurence) Falwell of San Diego, CA, Joseph (Jan) Humphrey of Breese, Stephen (Patricia) Humphrey of Nashville, Geralyn (Carl) Huels of Bartelso, John Humphrey of North Dakota, Brian (Karen) Humphrey of Manchester, NH, and Monica (Michael) Mensing of Breese; 22 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Warnecke of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Victor (Betty) Rosen of Valencia, CA and Daniel (Jane) Rosen of Highland; and a brother-in-law, Donald Holtgrave of Germantown.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a former volunteer with Hospice of Southern Illinois and the Clinton County Mental Health Association. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary where she devoted her time to the Pastoral Care Department.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.
Visitation will be Friday, June 21, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
Memorials can be made to Community Link or Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.
