M. Dean Brewer

M. Dean Brewer 66 of Lebanon died Friday June 27, 2014 on Doctor Island on Lake Otukamamoan near St. Francis Canada during an annual fishing trip.

He was born March 13, 1948 in Shelbyville to Kenneth and Helen Loraine (Bartimus) Brewer; they preceded him in death.

Also preceded in death by his father-in-law Frank Lapka

He married Cheryl Lapka June 13, 1970 in Hinsdale and she survives in Lebanon.

Also surviving are his sons Todd Brewer of King Salmon Alaska, Brad (Katie) Brewer of Cutler

2 grandchildren Kendyl and Reagyn Brewer

Siblings Daniel (Karen) Brewer of Findlay, Joyce (Merle) Brown of Bethany, James Brewer of Bethany

Mother-in-law Mary Lapka of Lebanon.

Dean has his master in Education and Administration and retired from the Lebanon School District #9. He loved fishing, hunting and was an avid pinochle and euchre player.

Dean was a member of First United Methodist Church and Sunday School Teacher in Lebanon, Club, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Lebanon Rotary Club, Lebanon Planning Commission, Lebanon Economic Development Committee, and Masonic Lodge in Pinckneyville

Memorial Service will be held on Monday July 7, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon with Rev. Peter Wehrly officiating.

Family will receive family and friends from 4 to time of services on Monday July 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church ARP for the installation of a new elevator and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Trenton who is handling the arrangements.

Eugene A. Guentensberger

Eugene A. Guentensberger, 85, of Trenton, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Carlyle Healthcare Center, Carlyle, IL.

Mr. Guentensberger was born March 9, 1929 in Highland, IL to Edward and Leona (Billy) Guentensberger; they preceded him in death.

He married Evelyn Seibert on December 30, 1946 in Henderson, KY; she preceded him in death on August 7, 1993.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Dana Charles Guentensberger; sisters, Leona Howe, Eva Landis, and Bernadine Frey; and brothers, Edward Jr., Joseph, Sigfried, Leo, Paul, and Victor Guentensberger.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Eugene retired from Alton Box Board Factory in Highland, IL, served in the United States Navy from November 1946 to February 1950, and was well known for the love of playing his accordion.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1:30 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment will follow in Trenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Paul H. “Bandy” Richter, 78, of Breese, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Richter was born June 25, 1935 in Breese to Edward and Regina (Voss) Richter; they preceded him in death.

He married Martha Kruep on November 21, 1964 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; she survives in Breese.

Also surviving are his children, Steve (Louise) Richter of Breese, Darlene (Ron) Berberich of Trenton, Marvin (Stacie) Richter of Breese, Lisa (Rich) Korte of Breese, Pam (Mike) Wellinghoff of Trenton, and Teri (Jeff) Hall of Breese; 11 grandchildren, Brian and Philip Berberich, Jordan (friend Erika Isaak) and Brandon Richter, Luke and Nicholas Korte, Erik, Alyssa, and Aaron Wellinghoff, Ryan and Kim Hall; sisters and brothers, Mary Revermann of Breese, Pat (Hank) Detmer of St. Rose, Charlie (friend Theresa Richter) Richter of Breese, Jim (Mary Jane) Richter of Breese, Ben (Doris) Richter of Aviston, Marti (Vic) Billhartz of Bowling Green, KY, Joanie Richter of Breese, Judy (Mark) Richter of Highland, and Mike (Sue) Richter of Germantown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marilyn (Mike) Thole of Breese, Bea Richter of Breese, Jean (Don) Bujnak of Belleville, Robert (Margaret) Kruep of Salem, Paul (Dora) Kruep of Breese, Joseph Kruep of Breese, Agnes (Bob) Glaub of Breese, and Rich (friend Wilma) Hilmes of St. Louis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Richter and Joseph “Brownie” Richter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth (Richter) Kruep; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenny Revermann, Bill Holtgrave, Jr., Florence Kruep, Wilbert “Wib” and Mildred Kruep, Alvin and Dolores Kruep, Betty Hilmes, Marie Kruep, and Gertrude Kruep.

Bandy formerly worked at Meissner Bros. in Breese installing and repairing Milk Equipment, and retired from construction work at DCA Construction in Breese. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, socializing, going for drives throughout town, watching Cardinal games, and especially watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 pm and again on Monday, June 23, 2014 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Grace Weier, nee Deerhake, 82, of Germantown, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Legacy Place in Highland.

Mrs. Weier was born February 8, 1932 in Germantown to Henry and Mary Helen (Leonard) Deerhake; they preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Grayling; brothers, Alfred Deerhake in childhood, Vincent Deerhake, and Conrad “Coonie” Deerhake; sisters-in-law, Maude Deerhake, Alice Weier, and Helen Weier in childhood; and brothers-in-law, Wilbert Weier and Fred Weier, Jr. both in childhood, Roy Grayling, Clarence Weier, Alfred Weier, and George Brauer.

She married Edwin Weier on September 22, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown; he survives at Legacy Place in Highland.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her children, Susan (Dale) Peters of Trenton, Linda (Jim) Woosley of Flower Mound, TX, Steven (Jean) Weier of Belleville, Donald (Kathleen) Weier of Muskego, WI, and Michael (Maureen) Weier of Greenwood, IN; 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dodie Deerhake of Beckemeyer, Margaret (Joe) Rademacher of O’Fallon, Dolores Brauer of Germantown, and Marie (Hank) Wesselmann of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grace retired from productions at Southern Farms Country Eggs in Germantown and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality, and the Germantown American Legion Post 325 Auxiliary. She enjoyed riding her bike, walking, quilting, and traveling.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.
