Barbara Ann M. Robke

Barbara Ann M. Robke, nee Schroeder, 66, of Aviston, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Mrs. Robke was born October 3, 1947 in Breese to Alvin Schroeder of Bartelso and the late Wilhelmine “Wilma” (Ripperda) Schroeder.

She married Jim Robke on April 18, 1967 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and he survives in Aviston.

In addition to her father and husband, she is also survived by her children, Michael (Sharon Clark-Robke) Robke of O’Fallon, Lynn (Michael) Malott of Aviston, and Cheryl (Tim) Heath of Potosi, MO; 5 grandchildren, Amanda (Steven) Bobby, Kaley Robke, Tyler Robke, Cheyenne Heath, and Todd Heath; a great-grandchild, Ethan Bobby; sisters and brothers, Patricia Albers of New Baden, Mary Lou (Paul) Sutphin of Shiloh, Sharon (Ken) Albers of Germantown, David (Cathie) Schroeder of Aviston, and Susan (Robert) Hoff of O’Fallon; a sister-in-law, Lu (Roger) Thien of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; a son, Todd Robke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Veronica (Leonard) Robke; a sister-in-law, Betty Eaton; and a brother-in-law, George Eaton.

Barb was currently employed as a Claims Analyst Assistant at Advantage 2000 Consultants in Swansea and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidering, arts and crafts, but especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Clinton County Relay for Life or the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.

Louise C. Trimble

Louise C. Trimble 97 of Fairview Heights, IL died Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

She was born October 12, 1916 in Palouse, WA to Jonas and Sydney (Noe) Faulkner: they preceded her in death.

She married William E. Trimble on May 25, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He preceded her in death March 12, 1986.

Also preceded in death by a brothers Dr. Willard Faulkner, Harold Faulkner, sisters-in-law Louise Faulkner, Helen Faulkner.

Surviving are her children David Trimble of Vancouver, WA, Gary (Rose) Trimble Sr. of Trenton.

9 grandchildren Shannon (Michael) Tippy, Gary (fiancée Jessica Morgan) Trimble Jr., David (Deborah) Trimble, Matthew Trimble, Christopher Trimble, Alicia Trimble, Natalia Trimble, Rachael (Dr. Greg) Wacasey, Lindsey Trimble.

Louise received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of Idaho, and was a homemaker.

Member of Christ United Methodist Church in Fairview Heights.

Funeral Services will be held Friday May 2, 2014 at 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church in Trenton. With Pastor Mike Rucker officiating. Interment will be Saturday May 3, 2014 in Boswell, IN

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 1 from 6 to 8 PM and Friday Mau 2 from 9 to 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church at 3324 Old Highway 50 in Trenton.

Michael J. “Mike” Heil 58 of Trenton died Friday April 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born September 1, 1955 in East St. Louis to Joseph Heil and Camille (Bohnak) Gaines: they preceded him in death.

Also preceded in death by a step father Robert Gaines, father-in-law Andrew “Red” Drees, sister-in-law Mary Jo Baumgartner, brother-in-law Marvin “Pop” Netemeyer, nephews Jason Niemann, Randy Ruth.

He married Jane Drees November 3, 1990 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Trenton and she survives in Trenton.

Also surviving is his daughter Kathy Heil of Trenton.

Mike retired after 37 years from the Belleville News Democrat. He enjoyed living in the country, traveling and driving. He especially enjoyed being part of the October week end get-away club.

Cyril J. Athmer 86 of Breese and formerly of Aviston died Friday April 18, 2014 at Faith Countryside Homes in Highland

He was born May 10, 1927 in Trenton to Frank and Mary (Gebhart) Athmer: they preceded him in death.

He married Thelma “Timmy” Fuhler August 24, 1948 at St. Francis Church, Aviston. She preceded him in death October 20, 1990.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday April 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese. Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment St. Francis Cemetery, Aviston

Visitation will be Monday April 21 from 4 to 8 PM and Tuesday April 22 from 8 to 9:45 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Frank A. Theising

Frank A. Theising, 89, of Breese, IL, born June 29,1924 in Bartelso, IL, to Frank and Rose (Bergmann) Theising, died April 17, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, IL.

He married Mary “Dolly” Glaub on June 29, 1948 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Breese; she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughters, Polly, Pat, and Julie; sons, Frank and Tom; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosa Theising; a brother Ray; sisters Marie, Rose, Elsie, Fran, and Josephine; and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth.

Frank served in the Army during World War II as a rifleman with the 132nd Infantry Regiment of the Americal Division in the South Pacific region where he earned a Combat Infantryman Badge and two Bronze Star medals. After the suspension of hostilities in August of 1945, Frank returned to his pre-war profession as a land surveyor with the 657th Topo Battalion as Party Chief for land surveys in Japan and much of South Korea. He was discharged from the Army in November of 1946 as a Staff Sergeant.

In May of 1955 he joined the Engineering firm Sverdrup & Parcel of St Louis and was involved in bridge construction across most major rivers in the eastern half of the United States, from Kansas to the Atlantic Coast, including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel crossing and construction of the high level Bridge of the Americas across the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. He was resident engineer for the construction of the world’s largest VSTOL wind tunnel for Lockheed Georgia Company, a number of projects for Anheuser Busch including relocation of the Refrigerated Cabinet Division to Conway, AR, the new Miller Brewery at Eden, NC, “from cow pasture to beer production in 11 months”. He was also resident engineer for construction of launch facilities for the Trident submarine at Groton, CT, and Trident service facilities at King’s Bay, GA. He retired from Sverdrup November 1990 as Construction Manager.

He was a member of American Legion Post 252 in Breese, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carlyle, the Knights of Columbus and Catholic War Veterans at Bartelso, and was a member of the Heritage Foundation.

His funeral service will be private service.
