Mary F. Winter 83 of Breese died Saturday October 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

She was born December 18, 1932 in Germantown to Arnold and Cecilia (Kniepmann) Haake, the preceded her in death.

She married Joseph Winter September 26, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic church, Germantown and he preceded her in death March 2, 2008.

Also preceded in death by brothers Arnold “Spike” Haake, Clarence Haake, Thomas “Toby” Haake, sister Lucille Gramman, Brothers-in-law Ed Gramman, Victor, Adolph, Alfred, August, Arnold, Walter, Winter, Walter Strathmann, Sisters-in-law Martha Strathmann, Diane Winter, Millie Winter, Bernice Winter

Surviving are her sisters and brother Pauline (Norman) Dierkes of Carlyle, Dori (John) Johnson of Germantown, Rich (Kathy) Haake of Germantown

Sisters-in-law Elizabeth Haake of Belleville, Ethel Haake of Germantown, Marilyn Haake of Germantown, Lucy Winter of Scott, MI, Ruth Winter of Breese.

Many nieces and nephews

Mary worked at the Shoe Factory in Carlyle. She enjoyed her time with family playing cards especially pinochle.

Member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Monday October 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Peter and Deacon Linus Klostermann presiding. Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be held on Monday October 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church of Mater Dei High School and will be received at the funeral home.

Marsha Kay Mahlandt

Marsha Kay Mahlandt passed away peacefully on September 12, 2016 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, with her family by her side.

She was born January 24, 1952 in Breese to Jerry and Virginia (Snider) Mahlandt. She lived at the Warren G. Murray Development Center in Centralia since 1999. Marsha brought a lot of smiles and joy to everyone she met. She had a passion for jewelry and purses, and loved having dollar bills to buy sodas from the vending machine.

She was preceded in death by her father Jerry Mahlandt, her grandparents Erwin and Evelyn Mahlandt, Ellwood and Alice Snider.

She is survived by her mother Virginia Mahlandt, her brothers Steve (Patti) Mahlandt, and Dave (Phyllis) Mahlandt, nephews Chris (Jamie), Josh (Courtney), Aaron and Luke Mahlandt, and three great nephews Evan, Jake and Charlie Mahlandt.

She was also blessed to have her extended family, her beloved friends and caregivers at Murray Center, who lovingly took care of her through the years. For all you do, for who you are, we will be forever grateful you were in Marsha’s life.

Private graveside services will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in Breese.

Memorials in Marsha’s memory can be made to Murray Center and will be received through Moss Funeral Home in Breese

Betty Niemeyer

Betty Niemeyer 82 of Breese died peacefully Saturday September 3, 2016 at St. joseph Hospital in Breese with her children by her side.

She was born February 13, 1934 in Carlyle to Joseph and Gertrude (Rohr) Vandeloo; they preceded her in death.

She married Marcellus “Teedle” Niemeyer November 24, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle and he preceded her in death October 26, 2007.

Also preceded in death by her brother Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo, sister Joann Kauling, father and mother-in-law Frank and Ann (Huelsmann) Niemeyer, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Beps Kauling, Lu Vandeloo, Jim Wellen, Dolores and George Harvilla, Tony Niemeyer, Emmy and Willie Kohrs, Margaret and Bob Dronsfield.

Surviving are her children Denise (San) Holtmann of Breese, Deb (Tom) Deters of Kenosha, WI, David (Myra) Niemeyer of Kirkwood, MO, Donna (Tom) Hegger of Aviston, Duane (Lisa) Niemeyer of Aviston.

10 grandchildren Brian (Alison) Holtmann, Jamie (Jarid) Henss, Anna (Tom) Erez, John Deters, Marc Niemeyer, Jack Niemeyer, Courtney (Brad) Gower, Casey (fiancée Cory Bifoss) Hegger, Lucy Niemeyer, Sam Niemeyer.

6 great grandchildren Kaden, Brant, Bryce, Hayleigh, Jaxson, Charlie

Betty was an administrative assistant with Southern Illinois Breeding Association, and at Scott Air Force Base and retired from Mioux Florist in Breese. She loved spending her time with her children, grandchildren great grandchildren and family and friends, also enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening.

She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality, Breese, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Breese.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday September 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Breese. Fr. Patrick Peter presiding. Interment at St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese

Visitation will be held on Saturday September 10 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.

Memorials can be made to the Donor’s Choice and will be received at the visitation or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese, who is assisting the family.

Evelyn M Williams-Newell 91 of Trenton died Saturday September 3, 2016 at Carlyle Health Care Center in Carlyle.

She was born May 27, 1925 in Flat River MO to Brian and Ethel (Fox) Mounce: they preceded her in death.

She married Charles Williams December 23, 1948 in S. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death August 23, 1985.

She then married Manuel Newell June 6, 1992 in Cahokia and he preceded her in death December 28, 1993.

Also preceded in death by a son Byron Williams, daughter-in-law Linda Williams, brothers Ted, Audie, Donald, Dewey, Fount Mounce, a sister Dorothy Quick.

Surviving are her children Tom Williams of Meza, AZ, Linda (Raymond) Spealman of Trenton, special granddaughter adopted and raised as a daughter Lisa (Curt) Newland of LaHarpe

Evelyn was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing sewing knitting, artwork and make stain glass items.

Funeral Service will be Thursday September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. Rev. Bob Marsh presiding. Interment Trenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 7 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.and Thursday September 8 from 9:00 a.m. to time of service at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Carlyle Health Care Center Activity Fund, Grace Community Baptist Church and will be received at the funeral home.
