Greg R. Hemann

Greg R. Hemann, 90, of Breese, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Hemann was born April 2, 1924 in New Baden, to Hermann and Cecilia (Hagen) Hemann; they preceded him in death.

He married Elvera “Mugsy” Poelker on October 7, 1947 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese; she preceded him in death on August 29, 1992.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard “Ben” Hemann; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Loretta Poelker.

Surviving are four sons, Jeff (Debbie) Hemann of Mattoon, Brad (Lynn) Hemann of Maryville, Mike (Sandy) Hemann of Breese, and Curt (Lori) Hemann of Breese; 12 grandchildren, Jami (Jimmie) Miller, Jason Hemann, Kim (Ed) Roley, Shannon (Steve) Phillips, Zachary, Caroline, and Nicholas Hemann, Scott and Lucas Hemann, Justin (fiancée Devon Creath) Hemann, Jessica (fiancé Tucker Schnerre) Hemann, and Jena Hemann; 7 great-grandchildren with another soon to arrive; and a sister-in-law, Stell Hemann of Indiana.

Greg retired from the Breese Journal as Pressman, Prepress Production, Ad Layout, Camera/Darkroom Supervisor and was a Veteran of the United States Army . He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Breese American Legion Post 252, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Concordia Saengerchor. He enjoyed playing baseball at a younger age, camping, and especially playing golf.

Memorial Mass will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese with full military honors.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or t though Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty J. Wagoner

Betty J. Wagoner 94 of Trenton died Saturday November 1, 2014 at Breese Nursing Home.

She was born June 24, 1920 Okmulgee, OK to Hugh and Bess (Arvin) McCord: they preceded her in death.

She married Donald Wagoner February 22, 1946 in Loogootee, IN and he preceded her in death August 4, 1997.

Also preceded in death by a son C. Steven Wagoner, sisters Virginia Ruth Deimeke, Margaret Wright, a brother Robert “Bud” McCord.

Surviving are her daughters Beth Ann (Robert) Neudecker of St. Peters, MO, Nancy A (husband Mark McClain) Long of Eaton CO.

6 grandchildren Jeffery (Angela) Neudecker, Stacey (Dr. Kern) McMurtrie, Scott Neudecker, Kelly (Chris) Jackson, Matthew (Dr. Stephanie) Long, Chris (Erin) Wagoner.

9 Great grandchildren Owen, Braden, Cameron McMurtrie, Madison, Harrison Neudecker, Colsen, Levi Wagoner, Hadley Jackson, Madelyn Long and anticipating the arrival of 2 more great grandchildren

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday November 6, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday November 5 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday November 6, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Melissa D. Mollet 39 of Trenton died Monday October 27, 2014 at her residence.

She was born July 29, 1975 in LaGrange, IL to Christopher “Chris” and Elizabeth “Liz” (Kelsey) Hasler: they survive in Trenton

She married Gary Mollett April 5, 2013 and he scurvies.

Also surviving are her children Cyndel Hasler and Joshua Mollett.

Brother Alan (Christine) Hasler of Villa Park, IL, nephews and niece Andrew, Jason and Megan Hasler

Aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Rev. R.A. Kelsey and Margaret (Rupp) Kelsey, paternal grandparents Henry and Anna (Ostroski) Hasler, aunts Lois Zemke and Ellyse Hasler.

Melissa was a waitress and worked a variety of retail positions.

Catherine A. Buscher, nee Ripperda, 93, of Trenton, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

Mrs. Buscher was born January 19, 1921 in Beckemeyer to William and Louise (Bach) Ripperda; they preceded her in death.

She married Herman Buscher on January 23, 1946 at St. Rose Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on July 23, 1993.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by daughters, Rita Marie Buscher and Ruth Ann Buscher; a son, Robert Herman Buscher; a sister, Wilhelmine Schroeder; brothers, Alphonse, Vincent, John, Raymond, Edward, Joseph, Clarence, and Jerome Ripperda; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth Ripperda, Virginia Ripperda, Alex Hood, John Buscher, Greg Buscher, Raymond and Irene Buscher, Regina and Frank Wesselmann.

Surviving are her sisters, Mary Ann Brueggemann of Belleville and Josephine Hood of Troy; sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Janet Ripperda and Elinor Ripperda of Highland, Margaret Ripperda of Pocahontas, Dorothy Buscher of Breese, and Alvin Schroeder of Bartelso; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Catherine was a homemaker and retired as a seamstress from Artex in Highland. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, Trenton VFW Post 7983 Auxiliary, and Trenton Senior Citizens.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 27. 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to Trenton VFW Post 7983 Auxiliary or to Cystic Fibrosis Research and will be received at the funeral home.

The Trenton VFW Auxiliary will hold services at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Ralph Taylor

Ralph Taylor, 87, of Trenton, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Aviston Countryside Manor.

Mr. Taylor was born September 6, 1927 in St. Louis, MO to Eugene and Anne (Hagar) Taylor; they preceded him in death.

He married Martha Swain on June 7, 1950 in St. Louis, MO; she preceded him in death on June 2, 1993.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Grace Williams and Gertrude Benson; brothers, Eugene Taylor and James Taylor; a brother-in-law, Ollie Williams; and sisters-in-law, Marion Taylor and Dorothy Taylor.

Surviving are his children, Anne (Jeff Lindeman) Taylor of Cedar Rapids, IA, Bill (Susan) Taylor of Trenton, and Barbie Taylor of Trenton.

Ralph was the former Owner/Operator of Taylor Chevrolet in Trenton. His business career started out as a lot boy/porter before he was 16 at various used car lots in St. Louis. He started his own used car lot and worked at various new car dealerships. In 1959 he purchased the Chevrolet dealership in Trenton, IL. He was a Chevrolet dealer for over 25 years until his retirement. He had a love of auto racing from a young age. He was a midget driver and owner. He also owned Indy cars. In 1964 an Indy car he co-owned, the Morcroft/Taylor Special, with driver Bob Wente finished 9th in the Indianapolis 500. Ralph had a winter home in Tempe, Arizona and had many friends across the country.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Trenton, a Life Member of the United States Auto Club, and a Veteran of the United States Army.

A Memorial Service will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Tom Rankin officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Sugar Creek Ambulance, or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the funeral home.

Daniel M. Kennett, 94, of Albers, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mr. Kennett was born January 21, 1920 in New Baden to Franklin and Caroline (Monken) Kennett; they preceded him in death.

He married Viola Kohrs on November 12, 1947 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; she preceded him in death on October 1, 2011.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Christian Kennett; brothers, Charles Kennett and Franklin Kennett; sisters, Virginia Logsdon, Margaret LaCaze, and Eileen Kennett; a sister-in-law, Adele Kennett; and brothers-in-law, Charles Lawler, John Logsdon and Woodrow LaCaze.

Surviving are his children, Marge (Rich) Litteken of Trenton, Colleen (Dan) Richter of Shiloh, Mary (Tony) Rakers of Trenton, Tony (Sherry) Kennett of Pocahontas, Jim Kennett of Highland, and Angie (Ken) Reuter of Hoffmann; 15 grandchildren, Lisa (Brent) Brede, Lance (Connie) Litteken, Scott (Erin) Richter, Tim (Jill) Richter, Aaron (Megan) Rakers, Renee (Shawn) Pace, Ashley (friend Byron Lewis) Rakers, Alicia (Matt) Haas, Melissa (Patrick) Jackson, Tara (Eric) Meade, Darin (Erica) Kennett, Camilia (Brandon) Schawel, Jase Kennett, Bryn Reuter, and Hannah Reuter; 21 great-grandchildren, Nate and Chloe Brede, Aly Litteken, Matthew and Aaron Richter, Ashlyn and Ryan Rakers, Megan , Morgan, and Hollis Pace, Mehki Smith, Carter Lewis, Ava Dickenson, Caden Jackson, Ellie, Brady, Camden, and Annie Meade, Leah, Averie, and Brooke Kennett; a sister, Eleanor Mueller of Albers, and sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Virginia Kennett of New Baden, Mary Lawler of Carlyle, and Frances (Dick) Koehler of Carlyle.

Daniel retired from the Base Supply at Scott Air Force Base and formerly worked at the Germantown IGA. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and helping others.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Men’s Sodality and the Albers American Legion Post 1026.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Albers with Fr. Jack Joyce and Deacon Glen Netemeyer officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Albers.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 8:00-9:15 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to the Albers American Legion Post 1026, St. Joseph’s Hospital Lights for Scholarship Program, St. Bernard’s Church or to Adapt for Autism and will be received at the funeral home.
