Nancy Weber

Nancy Weber, nee Mondt, 60, of Bartelso, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Weber was born July 18, 1953 in Breese to Anthony “Tony” and Margaret (Vander Pluym) Mondt; her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Aviston.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her father-in-law, Roman Weber; and a brother-in-law, Gordon Hellman.

She married Gary Weber on October 12, 1973 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso; he survives in Bartelso.

Also surviving are her children, Jamie Weber of Bartelso, Angie (Adam Tebbe) Weber of Breese, and Troy (Myranda) Weber of Aviston; 3 grandchildren, Romayne and Aria Tebbe, and Carson Weber; sisters, Sandy Hellman of Breese, Diane (H. Webster “Web”) Tileston of Washington, DC, Lois (Riccardo) Di Cola of Chicago, and Marcia (Alan) Stine of Breese; her mother-in-law, Dorothy (Becker) Weber of Bartelso; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Weber of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was the secretary at Bulk Feed Transport in Bartelso, and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Bartelso.

She enjoyed shooting Pool for Cornerstone in Germantown, but truly loved spending time with her grandchildren, children, and was especially devoted to her son, Jamie.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Bartelso.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Friday, October 18, 2013 from 11:00 am-1:30 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the Bartelso Fire Department and will be received at the funeral home.

Steven C. Kaufman

Steven C. Kaufman, 55, of Trenton, died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Kaufman was born September 8, 1958 in Belleville, IL to Leona M. (Papproth) and Oliver “Scoop” Kaufman, Jr.; they survive in Trenton.

He married Sharon Hammer on September 21, 1980 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Highland; she survives in Trenton.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is also survived by his siblings, Scott (Geri) Kaufman of Highland, Shari (Karry) Major of Trenton, & Tim Kaufman of Belleville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Theresa (Tom) Padfield of Trenton, Al (Ann) Hammer of Trenton, Carol (Ron) Kapp of Trenton, Tom (Sandy) Hammer Highland, JoAnn (Mike) Muston of Flushing, MI, & Dave (Carol) Hammer of Trenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Alfred & Mary (Kniepmann) Hammer; and a brother-in-law, Jim Hammer.

Steve was the owner and operator of Kaufman’s Flooring Center, Trenton, IL since 1993. He enjoyed his two Beagles (Pitts & Wilson), Deer Hunting, Corvettes, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

Memorial Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Richard W. “Rick” Jenkins, Lt. Col., USAF, Ret.

Richard W. Jenkins, a long -time resident of Trenton, IL died Friday evening, October 4, 2013 surrounded by numerous friends and family members at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, IL after a valiant battle with cancer. Rick was the loving husband of Joan O. Jenkins.

Born October 2, 1947 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Richard W. and Enid B. (nee Buckingham) Jenkins; and he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Abraham Organ.

He graduated from Blakely High School in 1965. After earning degrees from Keystone Junior College and Pennsylvania State University, he served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1992.

In addition to his military career, Rick was a commercial airline pilot, flying for Ozark Airlines, TWA, and American Airlines. He was also an aviation instructor at Southwestern Illinois College.

He was a member of Trenton First United Methodist Church, as well as the Kingsbury Lodge #466 F. & A.M. of Olyphant, PA and the Trenton Lodge #0109 F. & A.M. of Trenton, IL. He was also a member of VFW Post 7983 and American Legion Post 778. He enjoyed being a volunteer driver for Western Clinton County Senior Services.

Heavily involved with Scouting, Rick served as Pack 39 Cub Master and Troop 39 Assistant Scout Master. He was a member of Order of the Arrow and the Tribe of Manasseh, and he was the very proud father of two Eagle Scouts.

Rick was a devoted and loving husband, father, and brother, and will be greatly missed. He was a strong, independent, and generous man who was not afraid to take on any challenge. He was very active in the community and dedicated to any endeavor he undertook.

Surviving are his wife Joan (nee Organ) of Trenton, IL whom her marred May 16 1987 in Blakely, PA; his daughter Megan (spouse Blossom) Coryat of New York, NY; two sons, Richard W. of Endicott, NY and James M. of Trenton, IL; his sister Linda J. (spouse Ted) Oakey of Gaithersburg, MD; his mother-in-law Margaret Organ of Newfoundland, Canada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Trenton with Pastor Mike Rucker officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home, Trenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trenton First United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.

Henry G. “Hank” Peek

Mr. Peek was born November 18, 1926 in Breese Twp. to John and Theresia (Kampwerth) Peek; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, August, Gerhard, Cyril, and John Peek; a sister, Sr. Theresta Peek, SSND; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha Peek, Estelle Peek, Robert Hustedde, Francis Hustedde, Joseph Hustedde, and Charles Boeckmann.

He married Mary Ann Hustedde on September 27, 1949 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; she survives in Breese.

Also surviving are his children, Duane Peek of Plano, TX, Donna (Rodell) Weh of Breese, Cindy Dumstorff of High Ridge, MO, and Lisa (Michael) Enright of Harvest, AL; 6 grandchildren, Holly (Kris) Hanson, Dan Peek, Kristie (Clinton) Beach, Derek (Melissa) Weh, Lindsay (Craig) Hejnal, and Hannah Enright; 5 great-grandchildren; Georgia, Kristopher, Kinsley, Camden, and Emma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona Peek of Breese, Arlene Peek of Aviston, Carol Peek of St. Rose, Monica Boeckmann of Germantown, Rita (Maurice) Albers of Germantown, Rose (Francis) Rehkemper of Breese, Herb (Carol) Hustedde of Breese, Anthony Hustedde of Breese, and Dorothy (Gerald) Showalter of O’Fallon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hank retired from General Motors and was formerly a custodian for the City of Breese Parks.

He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Breese American Legion Post 252, and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.

Wayne L. Sachteleben

Wayne L. Sachteleben 75 of Bartelso died Thursday September 26, 2013 at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1938 in Nashville to Elmer and Mable (Dintleman) Sachteleben: they preceded him in death.

He is survived by his life partner of 26 years Phyllis Smith of Bartelso.

2 daughters and several cousins.

Phyllis’s children and grandson, Susan Campbell of Camp Point, Kimberly Winer and Michael Smith both of Scottsdale AZ. Graysen Smith.

Wayne was a retired Truck driver with Smiley Schmale Bulk Milk in Nashville.

Memorials can be made to the Clinton County Humane society and received through Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
