Evelyn M. Dorries, nee Hellmann, 92, of Breese, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mrs. Dorries was born May 8, 1921 in Germantown to Henry W. and Etha (Venters) Hellmann; they preceded her in death.

She married Earl Dorries on July 28, 1942 in Rome, GA; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1989.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild; sisters, Bertha Bolk, Leona Goewert, Goldie Loepker, Mabel Maxfield, and Mildred Potts; and brothers, Arthur Hellmann, Lloyd Hellmann, and Ellsworth Hellmann.

Surviving are her children, Earleen (friend Jas) Arnold of North Carolina, Darleen (Paul) Ritter of Centralia, Shirley (Dan) Kaegy Glenn (Pat) Dorries, and Charmaine (fiancé Gene Albers) Kleiboeker all of Breese; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl (Elmer) Rosen of Breese.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. Memorial Prayers will be at 8:00 PM Saturday evening. A private interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Breese.

Memorials can be made to Aviston Countryside Manor activity fund or to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary Lights for Scholarship and will be received at the funeral home.

Erma Eversgerd-Gallatin, nee Renschen, 88, of Germantown, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Countryside Manor in Aviston.

She was born May 29, 1925 in Albers to August and Mary (Haar) Renschen: they preceded her in death.

She married Christopher Eversgerd June 4, 1945 in St. Louis, MO and he preceded her in death August 11, 1979. She then married Francis Gallatin March 1, 1993 and he preceded her in death March 1, 2008.

Cyril J Poettker, 88, of Breese died Saturday January 25, 2014 at Breese Nursing Home

He was born July 1, 1925 in Aviston to Herman and Mary (Strieker) Poettker: they preceded him in death.

He married Dolores Holtmann on July 18, 1950 at St. Bernard Church in Albers and she preceded him in death April 1, 2013.

Also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Poettker and Cletus Poettker; a sister, Sr. Doris Poettker, HSSF; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvera Poettker, Ralph Netemeyer, Raymond Holtmann, Loretta and Calvin Schwend, Bill Spaeth, Ronald Huegen, Alice Toennies, and Clarence and Isabelle Holtmann.

Surviving are his children, Shirley (Leon) Langenhorst of St. Rose, Doris (Brandon) Phillips of Centralia, Ken (Terri) Poettker of Centralia, Sharon (Michael) Bacca of Orlando, FL, Deb Lake of Breese, Jerry (Laura) Poettker of St. Charles, MO, Dennis (friend Sandy Munro) Poettker of Mascoutah, and Lori Hankins of Breese; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Netemeyer of Albers and Marie (Clarence) Plocher of Highland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Dot) Holtmann of New Baden, Adrian (Trudy) Toennies of Trenton, Mary Ann Spaeth of Trenton, Ruth Huegen of Trenton, and Adeline Holtmann of Germantown.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and at the beginning of his service he was in Company L 318 infantry A.P.O. #80 through November of 1945. Once he was in Nuremberg, he stood guard at the Nuremburg Trials while he was in Company L 26th infantry A.P.O #1 from December 1945-March 1946. Towards the end of his time in the war, he was in 144th Armored Signal Co. from March 1946-April 1946.

Cyril retired from Scott Air Force Base as a Medical Technician and he was also a dairy, grain and live stock farmer.

He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and Albers American Legion Post 1026.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 8:00-9:45 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Ray F. Becker 87 of Bartelso died Tuesday January 21, 2014 at S. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born October 13, 1926 in Bartelso, to Henry and Cecilia (Jansen) Becker: they preceded him in death.

He married Sylvia Wolters October 8, 1952 at St. Francis Church in Aviston. She preceded him in death July 11, 1997.

Also preceded in death by a son Mark Becker, brothers Albert “Tossie” Becker, Bill Becker, a sister Mary Ann Rakers.

Surviving are his children Mike (Marilyn) Becker, Charlie (Karla) Becker, Ken (Donna) Becker, Randy Becker, Floyd Becker all of Bartelso.

6 grandchildren Scott Becker, Sarah (Kyle) Albers, Katie (friend Alex Gillispie) Becker, Lauren (Eric) Eversgerd, Aaron Becker, Jordan Becker. He was anticipating the arrival of his first great grandchild.

David A. Wempe, 65, of Germantown, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mr. Wempe was born August 9, 1948 in Breese to Virgil and Leanarda (Rosen) Wempe; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Braxton Wempe; and a sister-in-law, Dang Wempe.

He married Barb Albers on September 25, 1970, and they later divorced.

Surviving are his sons, Todd (Brenda) Wempe of Germantown, Keith (Jennifer) Wempe of Germantown, and Tim (Amanda) Wempe of Bartelso; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany Budde, Michael (Bethany) Monteiro, Zachary Wempe, Adam Budde, Michael (Annie) Strate, Camden and Griffen Wempe, and Isabella Wempe; 7 great-grandchildren, Skyley and Parker Budde, Corrine and Jacob Engelmann, Samuel and Ella Strate, and Alivia Monteiro; a brother, Virgil “Sonny” Wempe of Shreveport, LA; a sister, Mary (Henry “Red”) Hoerchler of Breese.

Dave retired as an Aircraft Mechanic from Scott Air Force Base and he was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of the Clinton County Vietnam Veterans 269 where he was a past president, Breese American Legion Post 252, and a former member of the Germantown Kernel Nut Club.

Funeral Prayer Service will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

Mrs. Emig was born September 29, 1920 in Aviston to Frank and Agnes (Stoff) Luitjohan; they preceded her in death.

She married Gualberd Emig on November 27, 1946 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Highland; he preceded her in death on May 23, 2013.
