Francelia C. “Fran” Deien

Francelia C. “Fran” Deien, nee Wuest, age 71 of Trenton, born April 15, 1944 in Breese, a daughter of the late Arthur and Laura, nee Kuhl, Wuest, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Fran worked as the custodian at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Grade School in Belleville and retired from the IGA Store in Trenton. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton and she enjoyed arts and crafts, and her dog, Boots.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Deien, whom she married August 17, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton, and he died June 13, 1998; granddaughter, Kayla Satterfield; and a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margaret and John Ripperda, Donald Deien, and Larry Deien.

Surviving are her children, Don Deien and wife Lynette of Trenton, Ron Deien and wife Sherry of Albers, Darla Satterfield and friend Jack Webster of Carlyle, Cheri Hunt and husband John of Trenton, and Jim Deien and friend Caitlyn Crain of Trenton; 8 grandchildren, Caden, Blake, Brian, Ronnie, Kristen, Dylan, and Mei-Li; a great-granddaughter, Rhiley; a brother, Laurel “Corky” (Mary Jo) Wuest of Breese; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bruce Deien and wife Sandy of Highland, Jerry Deien of Marine, Betty Deien of Highland, Jackie Shurtz and husband Roger of Breese, Nancy Deien of Breese, and Jean Deien of New Baden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to the Clinton County Humane Society or to the Sugar Creek Ambulance Service and will be received at the funeral home.

Lorene B. Fauke, nee Strieker, age 92 of Germantown, born August 10, 1923 in Albers to the late Henry and Elizabeth, nee Sudholt, Strieker, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mrs. Fauke formerly worked at the Marine Garment Factory and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, canning, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester “Bud” Fauke, whom she married April 23, 1946 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, and he died March 2, 2012; a daughter, Jane Fauke-Williams; a son, William “Beef” Fauke; a sister, Linda Rudolph; brothers, Vince Strieker, Lawrence Strieker, Elmer Strieker, and Gene Strieker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Rudolph, Catherine Strieker, Robert Schuchmann, Acquilene and Cletus Lager.

Surviving are her children, Joyce Schwadtke and husband Ha-Jo of Barmstedt, Germany, Gerald Fauke of Germantown, and Mary Lou Babb and husband Mike of Germantown; 3 grandchildren, Jill Schwadtke, Flynn Fauke, and Lisl Fauke; siblings, Robert Strieker and wife Irene of Albers, and Mildred Schuchmann of Carlyle; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Strieker of Belleville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

Robert G. “Smitty” Rickhoff, age 83 of Breese, IL, born August 11, 1932 in Lookingglass Twp, IL to the late Henry and Frances, nee Luebke, Rickhoff, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at his residence.

Smitty was a Veteran of the United States Army, retired from the Jefferson-Smurfit Corp. in Highland, IL, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL, Breese American Legion Post 252, Carlyle VFW Post 3523, and the United Steelworkers Local 1215.

Surviving is his wife Lucille, nee Bergmann, Rickhoff, of Breese, IL, whom he married September 4, 1956 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, IL; his daughters, Nancy Huelsmann and husband Dale and Marla Strieker and husband Curt all of Breese, IL; 3 grandchildren, Nicole Voss and husband Scott, Jason “Jay” Strieker and wife Brittany, and Courtney Strieker; 3 great-grandchildren, Maddie Voss, Tucker and Tinley Strieker; his siblings, Paul “Massey” Rickhoff and wife Betty of Bartelso, IL and Loretta “Tootie” Trame of Carlyle, IL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Gehrs and husband Jim of Swansea, IL and Sally Bergmann of Alpharetta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alfred “Bigfoot” Rickhoff; a sister, Bernice Loepker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, August “Augie” Trame, Fronie Rickhoff, Vic Loepker, Ceil and Ferdie Thien, Adele and August Sundrup. A Memorial Mass will be Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, IL with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic~St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese, IL.

Visitation will held Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese, IL.

Alvin F. “Al” Schroeder

Alvin (“Al”) F. Schroeder, 93, of Bartelso, died on Saturday, August 1, 2015 surrounded by his family. Al was born April 2, 1922 in Bartelso, the son of Henry and Caroline (Eilers) Schroeder. Following his service in the Navy during World War II, Al married Wilhelmine Ripperda on August 6, 1946 in St. Rose, and she passed away on May 19, 2013.
Al was a carpenter and worked for many years for Fournie Contracting in Belleville until his retirement in 1987. Upon his retirement, Al built a home in Bartelso and spent his time woodworking, playing cards and simply enjoying his family and retirement. Al was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso and its Mens Sodality, and since May 1942 a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bartelso Council No. 4745. Al was also a member of the VFW of Bartelso and Trenton and the American Legion of Bartelso.
Al is survived by five children: Patricia Albers of New Baden, Mary Lou (Paul) Sutphin of Belleville, Sharon (Ken) Albers of Germantown, Susan (Bob) Hoff of O’Fallon and David (Cathie) Schroeder of Aviston; a son-in-law, Jim Robke of Aviston; fourteen grandchildren: Mike (Sharon) Robke, Lynn (Mike) Mallott, Cheryl (Tim) Heath, Angie (Terry) Becherer, Mark (Devon Hayden) Albers, Robyn (Brian) Friederich, Clint (Chrissie) Albers, Kathleen (Polly Johnston) Wildhaber, Keith (Victoria) Wildhaber, Raquel (Craig) Koerkenmeier, Jared (Lisa) Schroeder, Elizabeth (Ryan Thole) Schroeder, Alicia (David) Hobart and Ryan (Katie) Johnson; one step-grandchild: Katie Hoff; eighteen great-grandchildren: Kaley and Tyler Robke, Cheyenne and Todd Heath, Garrett and Abby Becherer, Claire and Cami Friederich, Laney and Brandon Albers, Allison and Jacob Koerkenmeier, Lacey and Sophie Schroeder, Shawn Noel, Lindsey and Brett Yearian and Riley Johnson; one step-great-grandchild: Amanda Bobby; and one step-great-great-grandchild: Ethan Bobby; brothers Frank (Agnes) Schroeder of Bartelso and Cletus Schroeder of Germantown; and sister-in-laws Dorothy Schroeder and Joanie Schroeder, both of Germantown, Mary Ann Brueggemann of Belleville, and Janet Ripperda and Elinor Ripperda, both of Highland.

She was born October 9, 1925 in Germantown to Leo and Cecilia (Thoele) Frerker Sr.: they preceded her in death.

She married Lawrence Schulte October 10, 1950 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and he preceded her in death March 9, 2012.

Margaret retired from housekeeping at the Carlyle Healthcare Center and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Altar Sodality and the Beckemeyer American Legion Post 1227 Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting and dancing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date.
