Henry F. “Jitter” Albers Jr.

Henry F. “Jitter” Albers, Jr., age 88 of Damiansville, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Albers was born May 20, 1926 in Bartelso, a son of Cecilia (Usselmann) and Henry F. Albers, Sr.; they preceded him in death.

He married Lucille “Lu” Toennies on May 10, 1950 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville; she preceded him in death on May 23, 1989.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sons, Allen and Glennon Albers; sisters, Leona Voss and Viola Korte; brothers Norbert Albers and Gene Albers; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al Voss, Ed Korte, Marie Albers, Margie Albers, Robert Von Bokel, Emma Toennies, Walter Toennies, Cletus Toennies, Joe Toennies, and Norm Toennies.

Surviving are his children, Marvin Albers of Albers, Yvonne (Melvin) Heimann of Breese, Dave (Shirley) Albers of Damiansville, Sue (Jim) Frick of Nashville, Mary (Wayne) Berry of Hoffman, Ann (Mick) Bowen of Damiansville, Gary (Lisa) Albers of Damiansville, and Tim (Lisa) Albers of Breese; 27 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Von Bokel of Aviston; a brother, Rich Albers of Bartelso; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin (Rita) Toennies of Damiansville, Marie (Greg) Niemeyer of Breese, Julie Toennies of New Baden, Bernadette Toennies of Germantown, Bernice “Bim” (Frank) Fuehne of Damiansville, Jerry (Sharon) Toennies of Waterloo, Jane Toennies of Breese, Germaine (Herb) Schulte of Trenton, and Jan (Tom) Eversgerd of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jitter retired from Ford Motor Company and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening, bowling and traveling.

He was a member of St. Damian Catholic Church and former officer of the Holy Name in Damiansville, United Auto Workers Local 136, former officer of the Damiansville Chamber of Commerce, and a life member of the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Fr. Jack Joyce and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Damian Cemetery, Damiansville.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 8:00-9:15 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.

Breese Knights of Columbus member s will hold services Friday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Catherine B. “Katie” Albers

Catherine B. “Katie” (Frohn) Albers, 101, of Germantown, born May 13, 1911 in St. Rose, IL returned to the light of God on March 27, 2013 to begin yet another chapter, her eternal life.

She was the youngest of seven children born to Theodore and Mary (Wilke) Frohn. She learned the early value of hard work as she grew up on the farm and when she went to work at 13 to support herself and her widowed mother.

On August 11, 1937 she married Herman J Albers and they began a new chapter in her life in Germantown where they began their family. She raised eleven children to adulthood with love and her faith in God, Marian Eversgerd of Damiansville, Alice Eversgerd of Germantown, Ronald Albers of Posey, Harold “Yogi” (Ruth) Albers of Germantown, Richard (Judy) Albers of Albers, Irene Kahrhoff of Breese, Florence “Suz” (David) Broeckling of Albers, Herman (Karyn) Albers of Red Bud, Jeanette (Edward) Broeckling of Albers, Jerry (Marian) Albers of Albers, and Gary Albers of Carterville.

Her extraordinary life of 101 years was a life of hard work and compassion. Katie was a living example of the reward and satisfaction of doing a job to the best of your ability. She was a patient and true friend to everyone she met, but most of all she was a loving and generous mom. From this love and legacy came 38 grandchildren and the love continues to grow with 52 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on December 10, 1961; sons, Robert Albers and Gerald Albers; a granddaughter, Kim Broeckling; great-grandsons, Nathan and Conner Fischer; brothers, Henry Frohn, Bernard Frohn, Gerard Frohn, and Theodore Frohn; sisters, Josephine Gebke and Caroline Mueller; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth (Budde) Albers; daughters-in-law, Mary Jane Albers and Beverly Albers; and sons-in-law, Franklin Eversgerd and Leroy Eversgerd.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster, Deacon Rich Bagby, and Deacon Glen Netemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown, IL.

Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice, Breese Nursing Home Activity Fund, or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.

: Bernice A. Gebke (Nee Beckmann) 89 of Germantown died Sunday April 16, 2017 at Countryside Manor in Aviston.

She was born November 8, 1928 in Germantown to Alphonse and Christine (Wobbe) Beckmann: they precede her in death.

Also, preceded in death by a son Mike Gebke, granddaughter Sharon Bergmann, sister Sally Becker, two brothers in infancy, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Paul Becker, Corney and Helen Gebke, Norbert and Clara Gebke, Betty and Alphonse Eversgerd, Pat and Joe Haake, Bernard “Jr.” and Rita Gebke, Tom Gebke, Greg Eversgerd, Arnie Michels, Stanley Goewert, Paul Jansen.

She married Valerian “Larry” Gebke May 7, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church and he survives.

Also surviving are his children Gerry (Penni) Gebke of Springfield, Kathy (Pete) Bergmann of Bartelso, Ernie Gebke of Breese, Marilyn (Dave) Spihlmann of Albers.

Bernice was a homemaker and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Germantown, Clinton County Farm Bureau. Bernice enjoyed quilting, dancing, playing cards and bingo. She especially enjoyed watching tv game shows.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby presiding. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday April 20, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
