Martha E. Jansen

Martha E. Jansen, nee Mumma, age 77 of Breese, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Jansen was born September 18, 1937 in Harrisburg, PA to Ruth, nee King, and Robert Mumma, Sr.; they preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mumma, Jr.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Marie, nee Eilers, Jansen; a sister-in-law, Millie Jansen; and brothers-in-law, Brad Bennett, Wilbert “Butch” Jansen, and Paul Kuper.

Surviving is her husband Jerry Jansen of Breese, whom she married July 4, 1959 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; her children, Kenny Jansen of Breese, Diane Antonacci and husband Paul of Breese, Julie Henry and husband Eric of York Haven, PA, and Barb Koopmann and husband Ric of Breese; 7 grandchildren, Michael Antonacci, Mary Hilmes and husband Phillip, John Antonacci and wife Amanda, Thomas Antonacci, David Henry, Sarah Koopmann, and Alex Koopmann; 4 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah, Madison, and Caroline, and she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her fifth great-grandchild; siblings, Harriet Leicht and husband Marlin of York, PA, Dee Bennett of Dover, PA, and Mildred Brenizer of York, PA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene Jansen, Lue Flenniken and husband Virgil, and Jane Jansen all of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Martha was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, was the assistant librarian for many years at Mater Dei High School in Breese, but most of all enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and second mom to many. She also enjoyed quilting, stitching, babysitting and collecting music boxes.

Mrs. Jansen was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Breese.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. A private family interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese, IL.

Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to All Saints Academy, Mater Dei High School, or to the Community Link Buddy Walk and will be received at the funeral home.

Alvina M. Albers

Alvina M. Albers, 85, of Breese, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Breese Nursing Home.

She was born April 4, 1929 in Germantown to Edward and Wilhelmina (Duing) Albers: they preceded her in death.

Also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Albers, Lawrence Albers, Clarence “Sheepy” Albers, and Arnold Albers; a sister, Mary Ann Beauregard; a niece, Debbie Albers; and nephews, Randy Albers and Mark Beauregard,

Surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Alvina retired after 31 years from International Shoe Company in St. Louis, MO, she was the bookkeeper and worked in accounts receivable. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, and was an avid quilter.

She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Breese.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday March 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at St Dominic Catholic Church in Breese wit Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Visitation will be Friday, March 27, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Wilfred “Bud” Witt

Wilfred O. “Bud” Witt, age 87 of Trenton, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville, IL.

Mr. Witt was born October 25, 1927 in Trenton to Oliver and Ida, nee Hoffmann, Witt; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Witt; sisters, Arlene Wilburn and her husband John and Dolores “Maisie” Satterfield and her husband Charles; and a great-niece Kayla Satterfield.

Surviving is an aunt, Clara Ballard of New Baden; nephews and nieces, Larry Satterfield and wife Phyllis of New Baden, Jack Satterfield and friend Karen Isaak of Carlyle, Linda Roeber and husband Robert of New Baden, Jon Wilburn of Berea, KY, and Philip Wilburn and wife Deb of Trenton; his special friend, Jean Koch of Trenton; and great-nephews and great-nieces.

Bud retired from the State of Illinois Sign Maintenance Department and he enjoyed fishing.

Funeral Service will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton with Rev. Mike Rucker officiating. Interment will follow in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, IL.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to the time of services on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Caide Alan Brown, infant son of Samantha Busch and Cody Brown of Breese, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Beth Busch of Breese, and Todd and Michelle Busch of Breese; paternal grandparents, Anita (Jim Kohlbrecher) Brown of St. Rose, and Cary and Connie Brown of Pocahontas; maternal great-grandparents, Leroy and Ruthann Wilken of Bartelso, Roger and Diane Busch of Highland, and Pat and Steve May of St. Jacob, Gloria and Jim Brown of Highland, Marcia Carpenter of Old Ripley, and Marie Weis of Pocahontas; aunts and uncles, Sasha (friend Justin Eilers) Busch of Breese, Alexis Leihser of Breese, Colton and Cole Brown of Pocahontas; and a cousin, Amelia Eilers of Breese.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfathers, Jim Carpenter and Earl Weis.

A private graveside service was held in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery, Breese.

Ervin J. “Ervie” Diesen

Ervin J. “Ervie” Diesen, age 72 of Germantown, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mr. Diesen was born April 7, 1942 in Breese to George and Anna, nee Sprehe, Diesen; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Elmer “Drake” Diesen and Walter “Skip” Diesen; a sister, Dolores Lohman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth, nee Peters, Beer; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ginny Diesen, Jo and Jim Bryan, and Pat Beer.

Surviving is his wife Betty, nee Beer, Diesen of Germantown, whom he married on September 12, 1964 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso; his children, Tammy (Ken) Albers of Germantown, Scott (Chris) Diesen of Beckemeyer, Joe (Lori) Diesen of Breese, and Sr. Amy Diesen, OSF of St. Louis; 8 grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Ethan, and Evan Albers, Jaden and Drew Diesen, Baileigh and Kolten Diesen; brothers, Robert (Sue) Diesen of Jacksonville, FL and Leroy (Jean) Diesen of Germantown; sisters, Helen Wuebbles of Germantown and JoAnn (Gene) Diesen of Bartelso; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold “Butch” Lohman of Germantown, Jane Diesen of Germantown, Jerome Beer of Indianapolis, IN, Virgil (Martha) Beer of St. Charles, MO, Tom (Cheryl) Beer of Overland Park, KS, and Bernice (Frank) Pollmann of New Baden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ervie was the owner of Diesen Roofing in Germantown and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Kernel Nut Club in Germantown. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being a member of the F Troop Civil War Reenactments.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster, Fr. Chuck Barthel, and Deacon Rich Bagby officiating. He
According to his wishes, he will be cremated after the services and a private interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and again on Monday, March 16, 2015 from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and will be received at the funeral home.

Joseph P. “Joe” Eilers

Joseph P. “Joe” Eilers 55 of Breese died Saturday March 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese.

He was born June 13, 1959 in Breese to Judy (Leitsch) Eilers and the late Wally Eilers, his mother survives in Breese.

Also preceded in death by father and mother-in-law George and Agnes Hermeling, a sister-in-law Gerri Haar, and brothers-in-law Jim Haar and Mark Schrage.

He married Barb Hermeling October 19, 1985 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and she survives in Breese.

Also surviving are his children Sarah (friend Kent Hemker) Eilers of Germantown, Jake Eilers of Breese

Joe was the supervisor of maintenance at the Caring First Nursing Home in Breese. He loved spending time with his family and friends especially his granddaughter. Joe enjoyed Nascar sprint cup series and flowing Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Breese Knights of Columbus #2869 and past board member, and the Concordia Saengerchor, Breese.

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. Fr. Patrick Peter officiating. Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery

Visitation will be Tuesday March 10, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday March 11, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Knights of Columbus will hold services Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
