Ian K. Elliott, 35, of Destin, FL, died Monday, August 5, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Elliott was born August 9, 1977 in Belleville, IL to Peggy (nee Athmer) Elliott and the late Randall Elliott.

He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Timmy (nee Fuhler) Athmer.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Tyler Elliott of Highland, IL; maternal grandfather, Cyril Athmer of Breese; paternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Elliott of Iowa; aunts and uncles, Connie Frankovich of Breese, Sandy (Mike) Renspurger of Highland, Danny (Deb) Athmer of Aviston, Joni (Pete) Wilken of Aviston, Susan Dulle of Highland, and Craig (Missy) Athmer of Highland; and numerous cousins and friends.

Ian graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School and worked as a Chef.

Private services were held in Destin, FL and memorials can be made to his family and will be received through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is assisting the family.

Joan M. Hohrein

Joan M. Hohrein, nee Broeckelmann, 71, of rural Trenton, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.

Mrs. Hohrein was born June 8, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Frederick B. and Stella (Rozkiewicz) Broeckelmann; they preceded her in death.

Also preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Perra and a grandson, Dustin Jones.

She married Donald Hohrein on July 15, 1972 in Belleville, IL and he survives.

Also surviving is a son, Wayne (Debbie) Jones-Castrale of Troy; 4 grandchildren, Derek Jones, Tamara Thole, Brent Thole, and Alex Thole; a sister, Rosemary (Domingo) Gomez of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Fred (Lynn) Broeckelmann of St. Louis, MO; and nieces and nephews.

Joan retired from the Accounting Department at Wal-Mart in Highland and she formerly worked in Accounting at the Weiss Neumann Shoe Co. and sold real estate for Coldwell Banker and Century 21.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Trenton, IL.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Joseph Rascher officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Trenton, IL.

Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 8:30-9:15 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton.

Memorials can be made to Faith Care Center or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.

Sue Anne “Susie” Britton, nee Jansen, 53, of St. Louis, MO died Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Ms. Britton was born September 7, 1959 in Breese to Gerald and Mary Margaret “Margie” (Fruth) Jansen; they preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Molly (Kurt) Tiede of Athens, OH and Danny Britton of St. Louis, MO; her friend, John Mancuso of St. Louis, MO; brothers and sisters, Dave (Cheryl) Jansen of Springfield, IL, Mike (Debbie) Jansen of Germantown, IL, Dan Jansen of San Antonio, TX, Mary Jansen-Parent of Germantown, IL, Cathy (Dale) Williams of Salem, MO, and Fran (Mark) Etter of Breese, IL; her step-mother, Mary Anne Jansen of Freeburg, IL; step-brothers and step-sisters. Diane Alt of Naples, FL, Debbie (Greg) Rueter of Florida, David (Carmen) Daab of Breese, IL and Dina (Doug) Kassing of Freeburg, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susie formerly worked at Gioia’s Deli on the Hill in St. Louis and was of the Catholic Faith.

A Memorial Mass will be Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2013 from 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

Laura T. Pingsterhaus

Laura T. Pingsterhaus, nee Kreke, 89, of Germantown, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Breese Nursing Home.

Mrs. Pingsterhaus was born July 30, 1924 in Bartelso to Henry and Mary (Gebke) Kreke; they preceded her in death.

She married Victor Pingsterhaus on October 12, 1955 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso; he preceded her in death on December 26, 1981.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Aug, Veronica Kreke, and Catherine Sutterlin; brothers, Frank “Bud” Kreke and Frederick Kreke; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Aug, Martin Sutterlin, Rose Kreke, Agnes Kreke, Frank Beckmann, Catherine and Bert Jansen, Marie and Barney Spihlmann.

Surviving are her sons, Virgil (Dolores) Pingsterhaus of Batesville, IN and Mike (Nancy) Pingsterhaus of Troy, IL; 7 grandchildren, Craig (Pam) Pingsterhaus, Kevin Pingsterhaus, Krista Pingsterhaus, Michael (Emily) Pingsterhaus, Kyle Pingsterhaus, Christopher Pingsterhaus, and Lauren Pingsterhaus; 1 great-grandchild, Reed Pingsterhaus; brothers, Henry “Hank” (Dolores “Blondie”) Kreke and Joseph Kreke all of Bartelso; sisters-in-law, Ceil Kreke of Bartelso and Christine Beckmann of Germantown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura was a homemaker and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Germantown, St, Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary in Breese, Germantown American Legion Post 325 Auxiliary, and was a former volunteer for the women in need hotline. She loved quilting and playing cards.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 10 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Germantown.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm and again on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 8:00-9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.

Memorials can be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home.

The Germantown American Legion Auxiliary will hold services at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
