Thomas G. “Hoggie” Hogg

Thomas G. “Hoggie” Hogg, 63, of Carlyle, died Thursday, March 27, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Hogg was born August 11, 1950 in Highland, IL to Georgia (Fohne) Hogg and the late Alois Hogg; his mother survives in Breese.

He married Judy McPherson on June 6, 1976 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Highland; she survives in Carlyle.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is also survived by his children, Tiffany (Jay) Meyer of Breese, Brandon (Jessica) Hogg of Breese, Zachary (Britni) Hogg of Carlyle, Patrick (special friend Kristen Davis) Hogg of Albers, and Garrett (fiancée Laura Gilomen) Hogg of Trenton; 5 grandchildren, Riley and Falynn Meyer, Michael and Daniel Hogg, and Natylie Hogg; siblings, Edna Grapperhaus of St. Rose, Rose (Don) Thole of Riverview, FL, Patricia Riegel of Trenton, Stan Hogg of Highland, Rick Hogg of Highland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Jeanna) McPherson of Highland and Steven (Joanne) McPherson of Alexandria, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Paul Grapperhaus and Darrell Riegel; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Neil McPherson and Betty (Flear) McPherson-Baxter.

Hoggie retired from Gateway FS as a Certified Crop Specialist, and he had a true love for Grain and Livestock farming. Tom enjoyed cooking and made the absolute best chocolate chip cookies.

He was a member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau, Central Community High School Ag Board, and was a former School Board Member and Basketball Coach at Breese District 12 Grade School.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese with Deacon Bob Lippert officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 1:00-6:45 pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials can be made to Pan-CAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) and will be received at the funeral home.

Helen E. Rehkemper 87 of St. Rose died Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Countryside Manor in Aviston.

She was born April 13, 1926 in Highland to William and Elizabeth (Petry) Frey: they preceded her in death.

She married John Rehkemper October 22, 1946 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland and he preceded her in death November 19, 1996.

Also preceded in death by a son Michael Rehkemper, Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Barbara and Joseph Georgy, Helen and Alfred Becker

Surviving are her children Michael Rehkemper of Highland, Marie (James) Saatkamp of Stillwater OK, Greg (Nancy) Rehkemper of St. Rose

7 grandchildren Adrian (Nicole) Rehkemper, Stacey (Cory) Knebel, Tim (Stephanie) Rehkemper, Liz (Stephen Torbert, Kyle (Katie) Rehkemper, Brent Rehkemper, Keith (friend Jennifer Huegen) Rehkemper.

Helen was a homemaker and member of St, Rose Church and Altar Sodality, Charter member of Clinton Homemakers Extension for over 50 years, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary charter member and recording secretary 1969 to 1971 when new hospital opened and past president from 1978 to 1980 a scholarship was given in her name in 2003. Mater Dei Mothers and Friends and past president, Charter member of Clinton County Fair Association for over 50 years, Clinton County Farm Bureau..

Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday March 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Rose Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer officiating. Interment St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 28 from 4:00 to 800 PM and Saturday March 29, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Ruth A. Klein 66 of Trenton died Wednesday March 26, 2014 at her residence.

She was born December 27, 1947 in Vandalia to Evelyn (Koonce) Walker and the late Edgar Walker Jr., her mother survives in Pocahontas.

She was also preceded in death by brother David Walker, a sister Lois Walker, father-in-law and mother-in-law Vernon and Erma (Grafton) Klein, brother-in-law Aaron Klein.

She married Terry Klein March 10, 1966 at St. John United Church, of Christ in Trenton and he survives in Trenton.

Also surviving her children Stephen (Tracy) Klein of Columbia S.C., Michelle Oechsner of St. Peters, MO, Chad (girl friend Stephanie Maeder) Klein of Trenton

Evelyn M. Dorries

Evelyn M. Dorries, nee Hellmann, 92, of Breese, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

Mrs. Dorries was born May 8, 1921 in Germantown to Henry W. and Etha (Venters) Hellmann; they preceded her in death.

She married Earl Dorries on July 28, 1942 in Rome, GA; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1989.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild; sisters, Bertha Bolk, Leona Goewert, Goldie Loepker, Mabel Maxfield, and Mildred Potts; and brothers, Arthur Hellmann, Lloyd Hellmann, and Ellsworth Hellmann.

Surviving are her children, Earleen (friend Jas) Arnold of North Carolina, Darleen (Paul) Ritter of Centralia, Shirley (Dan) Kaegy Glenn (Pat) Dorries, and Charmaine (fiancé Gene Albers) Kleiboeker all of Breese; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl (Elmer) Rosen of Breese.

Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. Memorial Prayers will be at 8:00 PM Saturday evening. A private interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Breese.

Richard L. “Dick” Sellers

Richard L. “Dick” Sellers, 70, of Breese, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Sellers was born August 14, 1943 in Breese to Ralph and Dorothy (Merians) Sellers; they preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brenden Richard Sellers; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Margaret (Almasy) Lappe.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (nee Lappe) whom he married April 17, 1970 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese; sons, Chad (Denise) Sellers and Casey (Jessica) Sellers, all of Breese; 5 grandchildren, Cole and Blake Sellers, and Caitlyn, Logan, and Allyson Sellers; legal guardian of and raised, Terry Lappe of Breese and Maribeth (William) Bolk of Bridgeton, MO; special nephews, Christopher, Kyle, and Connor Bolk; a brother, Ron (Mary) Sellers of Breese; a sister, Donna (Ken) Eversgerd of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from SIU-Edwardsville, and later retired as the Regional Manager of Unemployment Insurances for the State of Illinois. In 1984, he founded Equity 55, LLC in Breese and was a Real Estate Developer.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and Consistory in Breese, National Association of Realtors, Realtors Association of Southwestern Illinois, and was the founding member of the National Center on Home Equity Conversion (Reverse Mortgages).

Dick enjoyed racing, antique cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese with Rev. Matthew Goetz and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment will be private.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2:00-5:45 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Breese.

Memorials can be made to PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) Research and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is in charge of arrangements.
